Defying Max Planck

Spread the love

A century ago physics faced a problem. Its two-hundred year foundation of Newtonian thought was showing signs of weakness. In the seventeenth century Newton had overthrown the physics of another great thinker, Aristotle, but now Newton’s time had come. The quantum revolution was coming, but as with most revolutionists there would be tumult.  Read more

When pondering: “what exactly was the revolution that Planck wrought?” We might immediately say the quantum revolution. But what exactly is “the quantum revolution”?
I would have to say that it is the somewhat unelucidated finding that consciousness and information, in that particular order, is foundational to reality. Granville Sewell makes a partial realization, of this reality, in this audio clip in his comment on the Schroedinger Equation:

Finely Tuned Big Bang, Elvis In The Multiverse, and the Schroedinger Equation – Granville Sewell – video

And the particular vein of reasoning that Sewell draws out is very interesting for in the anthropic principle we find that at all levels of “material reality” we have the material objects obeying these transcendent universal laws (Over 100 universal laws and ratios have been discovered so far). Moreover quantum teleportation and entanglement have shown us that these “informational laws” are imposed instantaneously.
While mainstream theistic thought will hold that these “transcendent laws” will be unchanging since the foundation of the universe, mainstream materialistic thought holds that the laws of the universe should vary over time. And indeed String Theory, which I find to be materialistic in origination, was dealt a major blow by the finding of such constancy:

Testing Creation Using the Proton to Electron Mass Ratio
Excerpt: The bottom line is that the electron to proton mass ratio unquestionably joins the growing list of fundamental constants in physics demonstrated to be constant over the history of the universe.,,, For the first time, limits on the possible variability of the electron to proton mass ratio are low enough to constrain dark energy models that “invoke rolling scalar fields,” that is, some kind of cosmic quintessence. They also are low enough to eliminate a set of string theory models in physics. That is these limits are already helping astronomers to develop a more detailed picture of both the cosmic creation event and of the history of the universe. Such achievements have yielded, and will continue to yield, more evidence for the biblical model for the universe’s origin and development. http://www.reasons.org/Testing.....nMassRatio

Yet the major finding of quantum mechanics, that Dr. Sewell did not elucidate in that particular audio clip, is the enigmatic centrality of consciousness to reality.

That the “mind” of a individual observer would play such an integral yet not complete “closed system role”, in the instantaneous quantum wave collapse of the universe to “3D centrality”, gives us clear evidence that our “mind” is a unique entity. A unique entity with a superior quality of existence when compared to the “uncertain 3D particles” of the “material” universe. This is clear evidence for the existence of the “higher dimensional soul” of man that supersedes any “material basis” that the soul/mind has been purported to “emerge” from by materialists.

I realized that consciousness was central to reality when I started puzzling over as to exactly why the Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation (CMBR) would form a perfect sphere around the earth:

I realized in a thought experiment, after trying to maintain 3 dimensional (3-D) symmetry, for the entire universe, from radically different points of observation in the universe, that the only possible way for such 3-D spherical symmetry to be maintained is if the quantum waves actually do collapse, instantaneously, to their “uncertain” 3-D state for each individual point of “conscious observation” in the universe, as is suggested in the double slit experiment. The 4 dimensional
(4-D) expanding hypersphere, of the space-time of general relativity, was not sufficient to maintain 3-D integrity, especially given the accelerated expansion of the universe. The 3-D geometric contortion visited on the problem is too drastic from different points of observation in the universe for there to be any other solution save for the “consciouness centered” universe.

“It was not possible to formulate the laws (of quantum theory) in a fully consistent way without reference to consciousness.” Eugene Wigner (1902 -1995) laid the foundation for the theory of symmetries in quantum mechanics, for which he received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1963

    further note:

I find it extremely interesting that quantum mechanics tells us that instantaneous quantum wave collapse to its “uncertain” 3-D state is centered on each individual observer in the universe, whereas, 4-D space-time cosmology tells us each 3-D point in the universe is central to the expansion of the universe. Why should the expansion of the universe, or the quantum wave collapse of the entire universe, even care that I exist?

    Psalm 33:13-15
The LORD looks from heaven; He sees all the sons of men.
    From the place of His dwelling He looks on all the inhabitants of the earth;
He fashions their hearts individually; He considers all their works.

This is obviously a very interesting congruence in science between the very large (general relativity) and the very small (quantum mechanics). A congruence they seem to be having a extremely difficult time “unifying” mathematically (Einstein, Penrose).

The Physics Of The Large And Small: What Is the Bridge Between Them? Roger Penrose
Excerpt: This, (the unification of General Relativity and the laws of Quantum Mechanics), would also have practical advantages in the application of quantum ideas to subjects like biology – in which one does not have the clean distinction between a quantum system and its classical measuring apparatus that our present formalism requires. In my opinion, moreover, this revolution is needed if we are ever to make significant headway towards a genuine scientific understanding of the mysterious but very fundamental phenomena of conscious mentality.

Yet, this “unification” between what is in essence the “infinite world of Quantum Mechanics” and the “finite world of the space-time of General Relativity” seems to be directly related to what Jesus apparently joined together with His resurrection, i.e. related to the unification of infinite God with finite man:

The End Of Christianity – Finding a Good God in an Evil World – Pg.31 – William Dembski
Excerpt: “In mathematics there are two ways to go to infinity. One is to grow large without measure. The other is to form a fraction in which the denominator goes to zero. The Cross is a path of humility in which the infinite God becomes finite and then contracts to zero, only to resurrect and thereby unite a finite humanity within a newfound infinity.” http://www.designinference.com.....of_xty.pdf

    Philippians 2: 5-11
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

“Miracles do not happen in contradiction to nature, but only in contradiction to that which is known to us of nature.”
    St. Augustine

Thus, much contrary to the mediocrity of earth, and of humans, brought about by the heliocentric discoveries of Galileo and Copernicus, the findings of modern science are very comforting to Theistic postulations in general, and even lends strong support of plausibility to the main tenet of Christianity which holds Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God.
