Uncommon Descent Serving The Intelligent Design Community

… figure out what they want to you say, then say it, acting like you believe it.

Why? Microbiologist Caroline Crocker, author of Free to Think, having been driven from George Mason University for pointing out problems with Darwinism, found all academic doors closed. She was appointed to head up the IDEA Center

… but difficulties arose. The main goal of the IDEA Center was to start and maintain IDEA (student ID study) clubs on campuses, but I was receiving feedback saying that students engaged in this kind of activity were encountering all kinds of opposition. The IDEA Center was founded at a time when the debate was less politicized and students could b openly pro-ID without fearing extreme retribution. Since the first IDEA Club had formed in 1999 thigns had changed. In some cases students to to form IDEA Clubs under pseudonyms or the clubs had to serve as secret safe houses where pro-ID students could be “out of the closet” about their pro-ID views.Despite the opposition, IDEA Clubs still exist on university campuses. However, for myself, I felt thatthe best thing I could do to help students would be to prove them with verifiable scientific evidence, clear explanations, and the intellectual tools necessary to make informed decisions about the implications of technology and science for society, rather than just helping them form clubs. (p. 200)

So she founded AITSE to do that.

Kids, remember what Christian Darwinist Uncle Karl, formerly of BioLogos, says,

Anti-evolutionists need to undermine the concept of “scientific orthodoxy.” And they have succeeded in convincing many evangelicals that it represents nothing more than the unsupported collective opinion of scientists who are basically just “voting” on things. Going against this orthodoxy, as the anti-evolutionists have to do needs to appear courageous and revolutionary, not eccentric and uninformed.

There, you see! Whether you are evangelical or atheist or whatever, no matter how foolish it sounds; it must be true. It’s an orthodoxy.

It’s okay for Jerry Fodor to know garbage when he sees it, but not you.

Look, you can always have a life and learn the facts once you’ve wrung that blasted piece of paper out of the system.

Astroman. i have been banned on a lot of evolution sites despite full innocence. Its unlikely people are banned here because of not wanting to hear the other side. I see heaps of evolution defenders here. I observe opposition is welcome to take on the ideas of the site posters or those who comment. Its always about the malice that is included in peoples posting. I find everywhere its opinions that are perceived as malice and not just words as such. I don't see it here. Creationism is the agitator and is the one censored , attacked, or ignored. People like this are very sensitive to not doing what the bad guys do. Creationism doesn't EXPELL because of confidence a fair trial will bring progress and victory.Robert Byers

Look, you can always have a life and learn the facts once you’ve wrung that blasted piece of paper out of the system. Well, news, as you know, that ONLY works if it's the last thing you ever want to do in the system. Profs Crocker, Gonzales, Sternberg et al know that if you want to continue, your still cooked. And, there are profs out there if have suggested REVOKING degrees previously awarded to folks who later in life "recant" of evolution,es58

Robert Byers, "The bad guys always react with oppression because they are threatened. They smell they will lose." There must be a lot of "bad guys" here then because this site oppresses many voices. Many people have been silenced (banned) simply because they don't say what this site wants to hear.Astroman

bornagain77, What about all the people who have been "expelled" from this site, even though they have been civil and honest? Why is your concern about expulsion limited to only ID supporters?Astroman

For organized creationism stories of prejudice work for the cause. The bad guys always react with oppression because they are threatened. They smell they will lose. They are right. its not just creationists but some or a lot of the establishment is saying that Christian people with christian beliefs sincerely and confidently held on Christian doctrines are on this alone to be denied their own country's pursuit of happiness. In a Christian created nation. if someone is up to the job most americans do not want such a person denied their job. Its oppression. Creationists here have a popular cause on this point. The bad guys are blundering.Robert Byers

It is a crying shame that, when it comes to science that directly challenges atheistic materialism, when someone dares to speak the truth he, or she, is forcibly silenced if possible. In science are not those who discover and clearly speak truths suppose to be celebrated instead of castigated??? As well Dr. Behe makes it clear that materialistic evolutionists themselves, by their own admission in many cases, are promoting their very own religious viewpoint, Atheism, in public schools, and thus are in fact violating the establishment clause of the constitution: Should Intelligent Design Be Taught as Science? Evolution is promulgated as an ideology, a secular religion—a full-fledged alternative to Christianity, with meaning and morality,,, Evolution is a religion. I have a friend who was a professor, who started a successful undergraduate research program, who had a pretty decently-sized funding, and whose work the BBC did a documentary about. When they found out he wasn't a Darwinist, he was fired, and the problem of being non-Darwinist prevented him from getting any meaningful academic work, so he had to go into truck driving for the rest of his career.johnnyb

Seems pretty clear that if the system is so closed-mindedly ideological and hostile, then an alternative system is called for, along with expose of the rot.kairosfocus
