That should be "Inflation Theory posits that the Cosmos expanded from a space small enough for quantum effects to predominate."Zachriel

mentok: Most of the universe is comprised of large void with galaxies clumped together in what are called superclusters or supergalaxies. I imagine the reason they didn’t show that as because they were promoting the big bang theory, which is contradicted by the existence of superclusters since the amount of time they and the voids would have taken to form far exceeds (over 70 billion years at a very conservative estimation) the supposed age of the universe according to the big bang theory.
Inflation Theory posits that the Cosmos expanded from a point in space small enough for quantum effects to predominate. Careful measurements (COBE, WMAP, Planck Surveyor) of irregularities, polarization and spectrum of the Cosmic Background Radiation provide strong confirmation for Inflation Theory. The overall structure of the universe is quantum fluctuations writ large. Smoot's voyages, from the rain forests of Brazil to the frozen wastes of Antarctica to the launch of COBE, as told in his book Wrinkles in Time make quit entertaining reading. When I watched this I was surprised. It was not accurate at the galactic level. What it showed when showing the millions of galaxies was an even distribution of galaxies throughout the universe, in reality that is not the case. Most of the universe is comprised of large void with galaxies clumped together in what are called superclusters or supergalaxies. I imagine the reason they didn't show that as because they were promoting the big bang theory, which is contradicted by the existence of superclusters since the amount of time they and the voids would have taken to form far exceeds (over 70 billion years at a very conservative estimation) the supposed age of the universe according to the big bang theory. This is an actual picture of how the universe looks at the galactic level: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Superclusters_atlasoftheuniverse.gifmentok
