Voluntary human extinction movement?

Here:

Q: What is the Voluntary Human Extinction Movement?VHEMT (pronounced vehement) is a movement not an organization. It’s a movement advanced by people who care about life on planet Earth. We’re not just a bunch of misanthropes and anti-social, Malthusian misfits, taking morbid delight whenever disaster strikes humans. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Voluntary human extinction is the humanitarian alternative to human disasters.

When every human chooses to stop breeding, Earth’s biosphere will be allowed to return to its former glory, and all remaining creatures will be free to live, die, evolve (if they believe in evolution), and will perhaps pass away, as so many of Nature’s “experiments” have done throughout the eons.

It’s going to take all of us going. More.

Coffee Tins We are not quite sure this isn’t a parody. But then, we are told “evolution” bred a sense of reality out of us.

The Vehements seem now to be dabbling in American politics:

The Voluntary Human Extinction Movement Is Both Anti-Republican and Anti-Death

By supporting reproductive freedom and gender equality, Bernie and Hillary are preventing destruction by overpopulation.

First, we want to eliminate unwanted and unintended pregnancies, and then we want to encourage people not to want that in the first place. There are many other ways of spending one’s lifetime.

One’s … what?

Actually, it is quite possible these people are serious.

And urged them on with mad desire
To call in haste for their destroyer.”

To continue your quote from Milton (Samson Agonistes)…

They, only set on sport and play,
    Unweetingly importuned
Their own destruction to come speedy upon them.
    So fond are mortal men,
    Fallen into wrath divine,
As their own ruin on themselves to invite,
Insensate left, or to sense reprobate,
    And with blindness internal struck.

True. There are many other ways to spend your life, but children are a gift from God! Why turn down a gift if it is given?

The sacrifice involved in raising children is worth it and will provide dividends your whole life.

A little freedom, fun, and folly can never replace family in the long run!

    Psalm 127:3-5
3 “Children are a heritage from the Lord,
    offspring a reward from him.
4 Like arrows in the hands of a warrior
are children born in one’s youth.
    5 Blessed is the man
whose quiver is full of them.
They will not be put to shame
when they contend with their opponents in court.”

Taking liberties: “When every VHEMT chooses to stop breeding, Earth’s socio-sphere will be allowed to return to its former glory, and all remaining creatures will be free … and VHEMT’s will pass away.”

It’s not a new concept. If you want your ideas and beliefs to prosper, you hand them on to your children so they grow through future generations.

When it comes to selfish narcissism, we have the people who have received the gift of life but want to deny that to children (and deny the world of the benefits those children will bring).

I live near a neighborhood of VHEMT’s. Street after street of young couples walking around, hanging out, trying to look cool – and no babies. Lots of dogs, but no sights and sounds of children anywhere.

    That’s the culture of death.

Silver Asiatic at 5: Yes, that’s the irony, isn’t it? Children who inherit their parents’ patrimony must make a decision for or against it. But if the land is vacant, nothing of the kind is owed to its former inhabitants.

Feminists have few children so the future in many places will belong to the children of non-feminists.

I’m not here to say it is a good thing; rather it’s like water running downhill. Good or not, it is the outcome.
