"But more importantly, NCSE welcomes “religion” in its defense. This is a double standard. They should not be allowed to use religion as a scapegoat for evolution as science, while simultaneiously referring to religion in defense of evolution." - Michael7 This is standard operating procedure for Communist (totalitarian/athiest) governments. Religion---the opiate of the masses---is tolerated so long as it submits to the party's will and serves the party's political interests. And it relies on "useful idiots" who defend the party line even as the party cynically uses and secretly disprespects them. Obviously, the NCSE is not morally equivalent to such governments, but they employ the same political tactics and hold similar attitudes toward religious believers.russ

"They should not be allowed to use religion as a scapegoat for evolution as science, while simultaneiously referring to religion in defense of evolution." Rather, this line should state, "They should not be allowed to scapegoat religion as an argument against other theories, while simultaneously referring to religious adherants and theology in defense of their own theory" It is misuse and any competent "Judge" would not allow such double-standards to exist. This eliminates free speech based on preferential treatment of one specific religious view as the only acceptable interpretation allowed against all other religious views. As a result, this is the severest form of working, demonstrable use of Establishing one form of Religion over another. By teaching a religion that "believes" in all claims of evolution theory is OK, while a religion that questions "some" of the claims of evolution theory, are not valid religious doctrine, this enforces a one view establishment of religion. The courts have overstepped their boundaries in more than one way. They are suppressing the rights of free speech by tax payors and are usurping their religious beliefs. This is now allowed under our constitution as written by our Founding Fathers. Historical evidence also brings such evidence into motion and is applicable across all such areas abused by such illegal establishment of religion in our public schools. This is unconstitutional and should be shot down easily in matter of minutes by any competent judge. Religion cannot be allowed to determine if a theory of science is legitimate. All testimonies brought to support such a position should be disallowed. It is in fact the pot calling the kettle black. They "Got" Religion and the masses must "Get" it too.Michaels7

Salvador, that's what I keyed on as well. But more importantly, NCSE welcomes "religion" in its defense. This is a double standard. They should not be allowed to use religion as a scapegoat for evolution as science, while simultaneiously referring to religion in defense of evolution. Any qualified "JUDGE" should have tossed out such double standards and not allowed such testimony. It is in fact NCSE and evolutionist that are utilizing religion in their ploy to dupe the masses. See here ---> this scientist is a Christian and he believes in OUR VERSION of science, thus WE MUST ALL LEARN THIS WAY.Michaels7

November 1996 - December 1998: --NCSE -- a nonprofit, tax-exempt membership organization working to defend the teaching of evolution against sectarian religious attack.
afterwards "religious" was removed from the opening, but "sectarian attack" remained until:
September 29,2004 (around the time of the Sternberg/Meyer Affair):: TheNational Center for Science Education is a membership organization which defends the teaching of evolutionary biology in public schools
Then a month later, with the first reference to intelligent design, and no more mention of "sectarian attack":
The National Center for Science Education (NCSE) defends the teaching of evolution in public schools. We are a nationally-recognized clearinghouse for information and advice to keep evolution in the science classroom and "scientific creationism" out. NCSE is the only national organization to specialize in this issue. We provide: Reviews of current anti-evolution activity in the United States and around the world Background to the fundamentally creationist and anti-evolution movement known as "Intelligent Design" ....
It seems the dropping of the phrase "sectarian attack" roughly coincides with the recognition of ID's ascendancy! I think the NCSE knows, it is no longer just faced with a sectarian religious attack from the traditional creationists, it must now deal with a scientific attack from the IDers! I mean, why should they have been involved in the Sternberg affair, what does that have to do with public education issues?scordova

"It’s kind of interesting that these people think understanding evolution will somehow benefit kindergartners." Actually, it's rumored they were working on a "womb-based" evolution education program till the NARAL folks objected.russ
