I too would like to know why race is immutable but sex is a social construct.

OT: Some readers of UD may appreciate this short history, and current impact, of Christianity in China: “..it is difficult to investigate the phenomenon of Christianity in China today without hearing stories of miraculous healings.” -David Aikman (‘Jesus in Beijing’) Jesus in Beijing: How Christianity is Transforming China and Changing the Global Balance of Power - video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvgveawp4oY Veteran TIME magazine senior correspondent and Beijing bureau chief, Dr. David Aikman, details the story of China's enormously rapid conversion to Christianity and what this change means to the global balance of power.bornagain77

On the subject of humour Silver Fox (if I'm not pushing my luck with the mod, again), I've just read a trilogy on WWII, primarily from a US perspective by Pulitzer-Prize winning journo called Rick Atkinson. and I don't believe it's even possible for anyone to write so brilliantly, each page peppered with quotes from those involved, from army privates to field marshals to premiers and presidents. Evidently a classical scholar (a closed book to me), his erudition shows throughout his writing, though. For ROFL humour the sheer craziness of humanity, particularly our sex, wars seem, unsurprisingly, the most incredibly fertile source. One passage I'd meant to transcribe was basically as follows: This officer say he comes back (from wherever) and he finds his troops, 'the g*ddam sons of bitches have been patrolling at night, and during the day, ploughing fields and sowing potatoes and tomatoes and G*d knows what else!!' And this, mark you, is during a lull in the middle of a battle of extraordinary epic ferocity and savagery I think it was Salerno. They must have been Okies from Muskogee or farm lads from Iowa, I imagine. This morning I started on The Quiet Gunner at War. And to my surprise it was also killingly funny, while being perfectly matter-of-fact. Passages are too long to even paraphrase one.Axel

I sensed the ascetical-spiritual significance of the black dresses of the Mediterranean matrons, perhaps because of their association with nuns' robes, Silver Asiatic (I was tempted to write Sliver Sciaitica...), and probably got the white mourning dresses wrong in the M.E., especially since you say the Moslem tradition stipulates black for widow's weeds.Axel

To keep going wildly off topic on your interesting comments, Alex ... I think the black had a spiritual value and Christian symbolism - you'll remember when most religious sisters wore black even in the hottest climates. Widows would wear black for mourning, which was a symbol for closing off worldliness. The same is true for many women in Islamic countries, in desert climates. But the churches and buildings are white not for the symbolism, but for reasons of heat conductivity, as you said. Medieval and Romanesque churches actually had brightly painted external aspects in many cases. I didn't know that white was the color of mourning in the Mid-East. Maybe it's done in contrast to the widespread use of black even with unmarried young women? There's an ID argument in here somewhere ... or not, I don't know.Silver Asiatic

mike1962, inspired by your coming out of the transracialism closet, I must say I've long felt I was an Olympic Triathlete Gold-Medallist, in a wimp's body. Now, I'm toying with the idea of demanding to be accepted at least as a competitor in good standing, in national, domestic competitions. And if I don't get satisfaction from the national athletics association, I'll take it to the European Court of Human Rights. And I'll bring up the business about being short-changed on the the melanin spectrum, too. Fair enough if I felt much closer to the albinic pole of the spectrum, but looking anaemic shouldn't count. I'm a black triathlete where it matters. Inside! As a matter of fact, I really do feel like an Olympic athlete in front of the computer or festering in an armchair. With the advancing years, it's only when I get up and have to stagger around bit that I begin to be plagued by horrible doubts.Axel

#5 mung, I wonder if it's something to do with white being the lowest heat conductor and black, the highest. But if so, it seems strange that those old Mediterranean, Latin women dress in black. Also that the colour of mourning in the Middle-East, I believe, is white. Maybe I've got all my facts wrong.Axel

Yes, mike1962, they say brevity is the soul of wit, but when allied with irony, it's the very nub of the soul! If you champion homogeneity one moment in arguably the most fundamental of human relationships, and can then posture as a champion of diversity, heterogeneity, rainbows, etc, you can clearly label anything whatever you like. And with a corrupt legislature, make it stick.Axel

Well said, polistra. It's simply hypocrisy, which includes doing violence to logic, science, and truth, which some people justify by a perceived utopian goal or a shield by making a case for their right to the exalted position of Victimhood. To institutionalize this system of thinking requires PC police to interpret the complex nuances of their position. As the Greeks once knew, any position is eminently debatable. As Solomon wrote, "Every man’s way is right in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the hearts." -QQuerius

Ah, but you're missing the full picture. There isn't any contradiction. The key is: Everything is mutable IF you have the proper Party credentials and you're serving the Party. You can't simply define your sex for convenience. For instance, you can't define as female and walk into a female restroom to see naked ladies. You can only define as female within the Party's guidelines and for political purposes. Same with race. You can't define as Person Of Colour for merely convenient purposes like getting into a prestige college. Dolezal defined as Person Of Colour to serve the Party, and has been serving the Party loyally and diligently. Therefore her parents are the false accusers. They are using denialist genetics and denialist birth certificates to deny her inalienable right to pick her race.polistra

Mike 1962 @ 1 LOL! Apparently a race change is an extremely delicate operation that's only possible when you hold certain PC views. But be careful! You see, you can lose your membership in recognized ethnic and racial political categories if you are discovered to hold the wrong views. In contrast, I attended a black Christian church in our area some years ago. A number of the members there went on a medical mission to a country in Africa. Their reactions were interesting. First, they said, it felt really strange being in the majority in terms of outward appearance. But then they said that they came to realize that on the inside, they were truly Americans, not Africans. As authentic Christians sharing a common experience of profound spiritual transformation, we considered ourselves to be brothers and sisters. As Paul wrote to the church in Galatia:
For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendants, heirs according to promise.

She is not mentally disturbed if her purpose was to get a good job and fame. In fact such courses should be ikllegal and such jobs. its breaking contract with the people the AFRICANS immigrated too. changing ones sex also must be illegal. Its evil. and offensive to God and mankind. if this not ready for prime time 'black' girl got away with her knowledge of black issues and complaints THEN how is it not a reflection on all those issues and compklaints. In short all fraud. The bas guys shoot themselves again.Robert Byers
