The Warfare Thesis is Not Going Away

Julian Savulescu’s recent comments suggesting that parents have a “moral obligation to select ethically better children” were more than just another move in the on-going eugenics revival. The Oxford professor’s misrepresentation of the science, and castigation of opponents, was another entry in the growing list of uses of evolution’s Warfare Thesis which is at the heart of today’s culture wars.  Read more

Born again, would not that teleportation of photons via their evanescence and reapparition elsewhere, not by a translation of their material manifestation but of their essential nature as information, constitute definitive proof of 'immaterialism'? Also, the personalisation of the speed of light to always remain absolute to the Observer, where measurable by a stationary Observer, or when it is travelling at a constant speed in the same direction, manifestly predicates theism. It seems to me that, while mere 'mind over matter' is such small beer' to the materialists, in destroying materialism, the empirical establishment that teleportation occurs in informational form, together with the latest research on Holy Shroud and the Sudarium, should play a pivotal role in salvation history. What do you think? PS: I don't mean that the whole course of modern science does not already provide de facto proof that materialism is farcically false. Axel
Wow, this Savulescu fellow is quite a piece of work...
Time to Throw in the Towel mercatornet.com By Michael Cook If you thought Peter Singer, now a professor at Princeton University, was Australia’s gift to world bioethics, then I have news for you. One of his PhD students, now a professor at Oxford, Julian Savulescu, is leaving him in the dust. While Singer is famed for supporting animal liberation, infanticide, euthanasia, and so on, Savulescu has broken new ground. A youthful 44, he has been at Oxford since 2002 as the head of something called the Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics. His postal address may be an ivory tower but he gets down and dirty with “practical ethics”. He argues trenchantly for performance enhancing drugs in sport, genetic screening, early abortion, late-term abortion, sex-selective abortion, embryonic stem cell research, hybrid embryos, saviour siblings, therapeutic cloning, reproductive cloning, genetic engineering of children for higher IQs, eugenics, and organ markets. For starters... ...more...

History, as they say, is told by the winners.
The codeword here is “denier,” as in Holocaust denier.
As an desultory Wikipedia editor, I got into a wrangle over an Denialism edit I made. Later, the broader issue was discussed here. The effort was in vain, however, in that the present article has no discussion at all of the word's use in polemics as a pejorative. Which is one reason, among several, why editing at the free encyclopedia has become an exercise for which I have very little time nowadays. jstanley01

As to the warfare thesis,,, this 'war' has been on far longer than we are aware,,, Kingdom Of God Vs. Kingdom Of Darkness http://www.metacafe.com/watch/4060606 Ephesians 6:10-17 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And all the while, ironically, the naturalism which undergirds neo-Darwinists, and even a majority of the most strident Global Warming alarmists, if true, would render science epistemologically absurd: Scientific Peer Review is in Trouble: From Medical Science to Darwinism - Mike Keas - October 10, 2012 Excerpt: Survival is all that matters on evolutionary naturalism. Our evolving brains are more likely to give us useful fictions that promote survival rather than the truth about reality. Thus evolutionary naturalism undermines all rationality (including confidence in science itself). Renown philosopher Alvin Plantinga has argued against naturalism in this way (summary of that argument is linked on the site:). Or, if your short on time and patience to grasp Plantinga's nuanced argument, see if you can digest this thought from evolutionary cognitive psychologist Steve Pinker, who baldly states: "Our brains are shaped for fitness, not for truth; sometimes the truth is adaptive, sometimes it is not." Steven Pinker, evolutionary cognitive psychologist, How the Mind Works (W.W. Norton, 1997), p. 305. http://blogs.christianpost.com/science-and-faith/scientific-peer-review-is-in-trouble-from-medical-science-to-darwinism-12421/ Alvin Plantinga - Evolutionary Argument against Naturalism - video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r34AIo-xBh8 BRUCE GORDON: Hawking's irrational arguments - October 2010 Excerpt: What is worse, multiplying without limit the opportunities for any event to happen in the context of a multiverse - where it is alleged that anything can spontaneously jump into existence without cause - produces a situation in which no absurdity is beyond the pale. For instance, we find multiverse cosmologists debating the "Boltzmann Brain" problem: In the most "reasonable" models for a multiverse, it is immeasurably more likely that our consciousness is associated with a brain that has spontaneously fluctuated into existence in the quantum vacuum than it is that we have parents and exist in an orderly universe with a 13.7 billion-year history. This is absurd. The multiverse hypothesis is therefore falsified because it renders false what we know to be true about ourselves. Clearly, embracing the multiverse idea entails a nihilistic irrationality that destroys the very possibility of science. http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2010/oct/1/hawking-irrational-arguments/ bornagain77
In the nineteenth century evolutionists such as Darwin confidant Thomas Huxley, chemistry professor John Draper and Cornell University cofounder Andrew White constructed a false history, casting evolutionists as the latest in a long history of heroic truth seekers who faced religious intolerance and opposition at every turn.
It seems obvious that if science is the search for truth, and that if later science is closer to the truth than earlier science, then the most recent science is the most truthful of all. Mung
