Coulter takes issue with the virtuous pursuit of nonsense and misdirection in the fight against COVID-19. In passing, she adds,

In response to the obvious question, WHY DIDN’T ANY OTHER SCIENTISTS SPEAK UP?, Wade says: “Perhaps because in today’s universities speech can be very costly. Careers can be destroyed for stepping out of line. Any virologist who challenges the community’s declared view risks having his next grant application turned down by the panel of fellow virologists that advises the government grant distribution agency.”

It’s the same on many other issues, as we know well. What’s going to be interesting to see is whether Science, as a concept, takes a beating after the COVID crazy — in the sense that “Trust the Science!” descends from mantra to double entendre to joke.

Remember the Marches for Science and all that? Seems like a different world now.

In regards to the OP, nothing that comes out of the CCP is truthful. The first reaction is to lie. When any doubt comes out about the lie, continue to lie until the lie is believed as truth. China is the modern day Soviet Union, which had no shortage of people accepting lies as truth. The first communist state was not allowed to fail, but did without those who supported the Soviets ever accepting the problems came from within the Soviet Union, not from without. China is the predecessor and lies are eagerly spread. All that is known for certain is an outbreak of SARS-2 occurred in Wuhan, but have no idea where the point of origin actually was. Wuhan is not some village out in the middle of nowhere, but one of the largest cities in China with an international airport. It could have started in Wuhan, Beijing or any other place in China. Without having legitimate organizations enter China to do a proper inspection, we will never know anything more than what the CCP claims.BobRyan_{May 21, 2021

This OP and article is about the origin of the virus not the effectiveness of the vaccines nor the ending of the mandates. Future mRNA vaccine technology may allow for one vaccine to provide protection for multiple diseases, thus decreasing the number of shots needed for protection against common vaccine-preventable diseases. Beyond vaccines, cancer research has used mRNA to trigger the immune system to target specific cancer cells.

It there was an ounce of integrity among those making the headlines and getting interviews for toeing the line, they would have all come out and made it very clear that the vaccine is a trial, not a surety.
This comment would be relevant last autumn when, you know, the actual trials were being run. Yes, we don't know for certain if they there will be any long-term side effects, but other mRNA vaccines have been tested in animals and in clinical trials, and we know enough about mRNA and immunology to have a good idea about the sorts of potential problems that might be seen. I don't think anyone would want to risk having thousands or millions more people dying whilst they waited for long-term problems, when our current knowledge suggests they are extremely unlikely.Bob O'H_{May 20, 2021

Seversky How about this for science? It takes, on average 10 years for a pharmaceutical product to hit the market, which includes vaccines. Any number of sources to show the average. Most vast majority get past animal testing, since they can see the results and correct them. It is a relatively short period of time for animal testing compared to human tested. The vast majority of pharmaceutical never make it past human testing for several reasons, like just not working on humans as it did with animals, or the side-effects in humans were greater than expected. A lot is learned from animals, but it does not always translate to humans. Prior to 2019, no country was allowing RNA research on humans; at least not that they were willing to admit publicly. In 2019, when a few countries allowed human testing, they were not countries with anything like the FDA, since countries like Venezuela have nothing that can be trusted when it comes to data. Not a single country doing RNA testing on humans was testing for any coronavirus. 2020 is when the RNA testing began for COVID-19, which had never been done publicly by any country prior to that time. Knowing that most pharmaceuticals, including vaccines, never make it to market due to human testing not getting the expected results. How does any pharmaceutical, including vaccines, get through the process in less than a year? Animal testing alone takes longer than that. When proper testing was not done, how can anyone say the vaccine is safe? The short-term side-effects are still coming to light. There is no way to know what long-term side-effects are going to be. When former President Trump called it, 'Operation Warp Speed,' he was making a bit of an understatement. To borrow from the movie, 'Space Balls,' it should be called 'Ludicrous Speed.' Coulter is not an ideal spokesman for permanent facts. She always knows which way the wind blows. Her principles have been following her paycheck for quite a while.
