Dorian Abbot

Readers may recall that a talk by Dorian Abbot, Associate Professor of Geophysical Sciences, University of Chicago, on climate and the chance of life on exoplanets was Canceled at MIT due to Woke mobs’ outrage that Abbot does not support their political opinions.

Well, the James Madison Program at Princeton offered to host the Zoom meeting instead. It will be Thursday, October 21, 4:30 pm Eastern Standard Time (time zones.)

Here is the advance notice:

Understanding planetary habitability is key to understanding how and why life developed on Earth as well as whether life is present on planets that orbit different stars (exoplanets). Whether a planet could be habitable is determined primarily by the planet’s climate. This lecture will address insights we’ve gained from studying Earth’s climate and how those have been used to make predictions about which exoplanets might be habitable, and how astronomical observations indicate the possibility of new climatic regimes not found on modern Earth…

Dorian Abbot is an Associate Professor of Geophysical Sciences at the University of Chicago. In his research he uses mathematical and computational models to understand and explain fundamental problems in Earth and Planetary Sciences. Professor Abbot has also worked on problems related to climate, paleoclimate, the cryosphere, planetary habitability, and exoplanets. Recently he’s been focusing on terrestrial exoplanets and habitability. He has an undergraduate degree in physics and a PhD in applied math, both from Harvard University.

The Woke are, of course, welcome to scream, assault passersby, and torch cars and buildings in the comfort of their own Zoom meeting at the same time. 😉

You may also wish to read: Expert in exoplanets gets the better of Outrage, Inc. One thing that’s coming out of all these stories is that those who do NOT cower and mumble abject apologies to the gleefully unlettered tend to do better. Mobs have only the authority they seize from cowards. And who wants to defend an abject coward? He’ll sell you out too. A person who takes a stand can be defended.

The worst part, Fasteddious at 1, is that it is far more damaging for MIT to be woke than for Princeton to be. Woke = Yech!, not Tech!News

It is troubling to hear that MIT, that bastion of all thing STEM, is more woke than Princeton.Fasteddious
