tapered divideAs we continue to look at the issue of wedges used at watersheds to trigger slides down mutually polarised slippery slopes to ruin, D reminds us on the lesson of the White Rose martyrs . . . a movement that is now pivotal in some key ways to the modern self-understanding of the German people. We tread holy ground here, lessons literally bought with blood and tears.

Here is D, reporting on a recent tour of pivotal sites and linked reflections:

Hans and Sophie Scholl, Catholic Christian Martyrs of the White Rose movement

>>Regarding your clear warnings about the inescapable consequences of disregarding the lessons from history, there are a few interesting things I noticed during my recent first visit to the Polish cities of Wroclaw and Krakow a week ago. However, related to another city, Munich, there is a story that you have referred to before.

Munich University young student Sophie Scholl, a brave member of the peaceful White Rose movement, gave her life for spreading the truth about the evil Nazi regime. Her father had been arrested for publicly warning –before Sophie’s involvement in the peaceful resistance– about the horrendous consequences of Hitler’s evil actions.

When Sophie’s parents tried to enter the courthouse to be present at the unjust trial of their children, a Nazi guard did not let them get in and told them that they should have raised their children better. The prophet Jeremiah’s sentence about the sick state of the human soul comes to mind. A spiritual malady without natural remedy.

According to witnesses’ accounts, at their last encounter shortly before the execution, Sophie’s mother reminded her daughter to remember Jesus.>>

To this, I responded in 851 as follows:

As a warning on the matches being played with, a picture of the guillotine used to judicially murder the Scholls and others

>>The White Rose martyrs — especially brother and sister, Hans and Sophie Scholl — are a lesson to us all; sadly, including on the human cruelty and callousness that as you report would not only kangaroo court and behead a brother and sister (along with the others) but would rob parents of their children without good cause and without even opportunity for moral support during their cruel mockery of a trial before a tribunal of judicial murder . . . the ultimate form of lawfare.

Let us cite a classic definition:

“the murder of an innocent, deliberately, and with all the pomp of holy Justice, perpetrated by people installed to prevent murder, or, if a murder has occurred, to see to it that it is punished appropriately.”

We must understand the hellish, demonic fires we are playing with.

(As the White Rose martyrs so clearly did.)

And yes, the echoes of the ongoing mass slaughter of the ultimate innocent in the womb under false colours of law, choice and reproductive ‘rights’, are there. I repeat, we are a civilisation tainted by mass bloodguilt; so if you wonder at how warped our thought and policy have become, understand the corrupting power of bloodguilt and what has had to be done with law, law enforcement, parliaments, the executive, education and mass media to sustain such.

What is playing out today — as Schaeffer and Koop solemnly warned us 40 years ago — is in a sense just the spreading of this gangrene of the soul.

Now attaining to the watershed warping of personal identity, marriage and family. Leading to wedging apart our communities into ever increasing polarisation as we slide down mutually polarised slippery slopes in ever faster snowballing avalanches to ruin.

Let me clip (HT: Wiki) for those who do not understand where ruthless mass manipulation in service to nihilism ends:

Plato's Cave of shadow shows projected before life-long prisoners and confused for reality. Once the concept of general delusion is introduced, it raises the question of an infinite regress of delusions. The sensible response is to see that this should lead us to doubt the doubter and insist that our senses be viewed as generally reliable unless they are specifically shown defective. “The government – or rather, the [National Socialist German Workers’] party – controlled everything [–> cf. here]: the news media, arms, police, the armed forces, the judiciary system, communications, travel, all levels of education from kindergarten to universities, all cultural and religious institutions. Political indoctrination started at a very early age, and continued by means of the Hitler Youth with the ultimate goal of complete mind control. Children were exhorted in school to denounce even their own parents for derogatory remarks about Hitler or Nazi ideology.” —?George J. Wittenstein M. D., “Memories of the White Rose”, 1979

But, as can be seen in the reaction to Heine’s literary prophecy a full century before the events, too many today have forgotten or have never learned and refuse to learn.

So, they imagine we who try to warn are obsessed or somehow must be the problem — those who trouble Israel, in Ahab’s words to Elijah.

PS: Jeremiah’s diagnosis — and some things really need the KJV:

Jer 17:5 Thus saith the Lord; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord.

6 For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited.

7 Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is.

8 For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.

9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

10 I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

11 As the partridge sitteth on eggs, and hatcheth them not; so he that getteth riches, and not by right, shall leave them in the midst of his days, and at his end shall be a fool . . .>>

Where, as the latest cyber stalking attempt includes yet another sick-minded attempt to taint the Christian faith for Hitler’s evil, let me now cite from the White Rose pamphlets, words bought with blood, Christian martyrs’ blood:

>>WR, II: Since the conquest of Poland three hundred thousand Jews have been murdered in this country in the most bestial way . . . The German people slumber on in their dull, stupid sleep and encourage these fascist criminals . . . Each man wants to be exonerated of a guilt of this kind, each one continues on his way with the most placid, the calmest conscience. But he cannot be exonerated; he is guilty, guilty, guilty!

WR, IV: Every word that comes from Hitler’s mouth is a lie. When he says peace, he means war, and when he blasphemously uses the name of the Almighty, he means the power of evil, the fallen angel, Satan. His mouth is the foul-smelling maw of Hell, and his might is at bottom accursed. True, we must conduct a struggle against the National Socialist terrorist state with rational means; but whoever today still doubts the reality, the existence of demonic powers, has failed by a wide margin to understand the metaphysical background of this war.>>

(And, yes, Luther indeed said many intemperate things, the consequences of which he doubtless never imagined in his worst nightmares; these are among the sins of Christendom. Luther was wrong, and should have known and done much better, as for instance Rom 11 plainly teaches us: 18 . . . do not be arrogant toward the branches. If you are, remember it is not you who support the root, but the root that supports you . . . However, those who would ill-advisedly use Luther’s sins to rhetorically taint the Christian faith must first face the blatant fact that he is fifteen full centuries after the founding, and the point just illustrated that within the foundation, there is ample resource to correct such wrongs. Likewise, it would be wise for the people of Israel to understand that in today’s perilous age, there is precisely one large and widely distributed group of people numbering hundreds of millions who by and large instinctively support the Jewish people: Bible-believing Christians.)

Let us ponder the story of that movement, and let us tremble.

This lecture, by a survivor, will give sobering food for thought:

Of course, this is for record, so onward discussion will be entertained in the still continuing thread. END
