Happy Atheist PZ Myers and Richard Dawkins mutually dissing each other?

PZ Myers came out with his book recently, “The Happy Atheist”.

Did Richard Dawkins endorse it? Did Jerry Coyne endorse it? Did Sam Harris endorse it? Look at the endorsements at Amazon for the Happy Atheist.

Did they so much as make an obligatory internet post saying, “great book”. How about a 1 line tweet? How about Massimo Pigliucci saying in effect: good riddance, PZ.

Dawkins used to hang out at PZ’s website a lot, and it was there Dawkins made the comment that made Elevatorgate explosive. Haven’t seen Richard paying anymore visits to PZ.

Dawkins’ new book will be coming out September about Dawkins favorite topic — himself. Will PZ promote Dawkins book? We’ll see…

2. PZ Myers pro-feminist “freethoughtblogs” have been a fortress from which shots have been taken at fellow atheists Michael Shermer, Sam Harris, Richard Dawkins, and Lawrence Krauss (the “establishment atheists”). Now that even Shermer and Krauss’ personal life was fair game for PZ’s enclave of feminist atheists (FAs), will the FAs start giving Dawkins the same treatment? Consider

A. Dawkins defends the idea of having a mistress and lying about it

B. the FAs already fired off a rumor about Dawkins

I fear you are giving them far too much importance than they are worthy of becoming. Lothars Sohn - Lothar's son http://lotharlorraine.wordpress.comLothars Sohn

It's ironic that Myers would call his book "the happy atheist" since I've always found him to come across as incredibly UNhappy and downright miserable at times, so I must admit I took a little delight to see even Massimo Pigliucci describe him as "cantankerous" ;-)Blue_Savannah

He's got the usual endorsements from Publishers Weekly and Booklist, and one from a blogger called "The Friendly Atheist." However, I did note at least two 1-star reviews, one of which is dismissive: "Although she liked it, I found it to be thoroughly disappointing and uninsightful... Perhaps it's designed to appeal to a teen audience as I found some of the chapters to be reminiscent in sentiment and substance to the type of journal entries I wrote during my high school years." I used to debate teenage atheists on the 'net. Their entire argument boiled down to "I didn't get a Nintendo Wii for Christmas, and therefore there is no God!"Barb

Both of these books deserve to be judged by their covers: The PZ Meyers book cover features a deviously creative logo (which I first noticed on bumper stickers a few years ago.) The Dawkins book cover.... (my wasn't he a handsome young man!) ....Johnnyfarmer
