Avi Loeb on why he thinks Oumuamua might be an alien signal

“Nature does not produce such things”

Look, maybe some of us have been too hard on Avi Loeb.

Try to understand that all the stupid stuff we have heard about the space aliens over the years is enough to knock off your glasses from your face.

When I (O’Leary for News) used to work in print media, if I wanted to get kicked down the stairs by the Night City Desk Editor, all I would need to do was even bring up anything like that.

Fine. Loeb has a reputable publisher (Harcourt) for his forthcoming book Extraterrestrial and is entitled to make his case. Let’s see what he has to say.

Apparently, he doesn’t think life is all a big accident.

For all its faults, at least some parts of the internet are still a free country.

You’ve been too hard on both Loeb and Coyne. Both of them are departing from “scientific” orthodoxy in many ways. Departure takes GUTS, and we should be cheering courage, not bashing it.
