There are flood legends in many ancient civilzations: African Pygmies, European Celts, South American Incas—all have similar legends, as do peoples of Alaska, Australia, China, India, Lithuania, Mexico, Micronesia, New Zealand, and parts of North America, to mention only a few. The narratives of the legends also have common points: God being angered by mankind’s wickedness; a flood being brought by God to destroy the wicked; mankind being destroyed; a few people being preserved alive; a vessel was used to save a few people and animals; birds were sent to look for dry land after the flood; the vessel landed upon a mountain. These similarities cannot possibly be coincidental. The combined evidence corroborates the Bible’s account of the flood.
The scriptures record a precise date for the flood as well. The second month of the ancient calendar ran from mid-October to mid-November (according to our calendar). The 17th day corresponds to November 1st, approximately. November 1st is All Souls’ Day and October 31st is Halloween, both festivals commemorating the dead.
But let’s also take a look at some scientific evidence.
Billions of tons of water deluged the earth (Genesis 7:11). This may have caused changes in the surface of the Earth. The Earth’s crust varies in thickness, and likely under the weight of all the water, there was a great shifting in the crust. Mountains would have been created, new shorelines would have been established, and now 70% of the Earth is covered by water. Geologic phenomena attest to this (See The Biblical Flood and the Ice Epoch, by D. Patten, 1966, p. 62.)
Paleontologists have found remains of mammoths and rhinoceroses in different parts of the earth. Some of these were found in Siberian cliffs; others were preserved in Siberian and Alaskan ice. In fact, some were found with food undigested in their stomachs or still unchewed in their teeth, indicating that they died suddenly. The fossil remains of many other animals, such as lions, tigers, bears, and elk, have been found in common strata, which may indicate that all of these were destroyed simultaneously. This could also be considered definite physical proof of a rapid change in climate and sudden destruction caused by a universal flood.

And indeed there is, like I said before, ‘ plenty of evidence that would make any reasonable person question the veracity of, and even the politics behind, Global warming claims’.
But the one thing that never gets mentioned in these debates on global warming is the underlying philosophical bias of those who believe in global warming.
People who believe in global warming, for the most part, apparently do not believe that the Earth was prepared in advance for humans by God so that they could have a technologically advanced civilization on Earth.,,, For most environmentalist, their core belief would be something like this, ‘the Earth would be better place if such ‘unnatural’ technologically advanced humans did not exist and we had a more primitive, ‘natural’, society’. Perhaps it could be called the ‘Adam and Eve’ complex since, supposedly, we would all be better off if we ‘got back to nature’ and just ran around naked in the woods. 🙂
Some evironmentalists of the atheistic persuasion would go much further in their disdain for ‘unnatural’ technologically advanced humans than just trying to shut down industry,,,
Thus, to counter the basic ‘Adam and Eve’ complex of environmentalists, I would like to present some evidence that the universe designed for life, and also evidence that the universe is designed specifically for life like human life, and I would also like to present some evidence that the earth was prepared, by God, for technologically advanced humans to exist on it.

Some types of ancient bacteria helped prepare the earth for advanced life by detoxifying the primeval earth and oceans of poisonous levels of heavy metals while depositing them as relatively inert metal ores. Metal ores which are very useful for modern man, as well as fairly easy for man to extract today (mercury, cadmium, zinc, cobalt, arsenic, chromate, tellurium and copper to name a few). To this day, various types of bacteria maintain an essential minimal level of these heavy metals in the ecosystem which are high enough so as to be available to the biological systems of the higher life forms that need them yet low enough so as not to be poisonous to those very same higher life forms.
As well, in conjunction with bacteria, geological processes helped detoxify the earth of dangerous levels of metal:
And on top of the fact that poisonous heavy metals on the primordial earth were brought into ‘life-enabling’ balance by complex biogeochemical processes, there was also an explosion of minerals on earth which were a result of that first life, as well as being a result of each subsequent ‘Big Bang of life’ there afterwards.
(Calcium carbonate, of which chalk, limestone and marble are made, also makes up corals, shells of snails and other animals, and stromatolites. Strontium Carbonate is used in Ceramics, Pyrotechnics, Electronics and metallurgy. Barium carbonate is widely used in the ceramics industry as an ingredient in glazes. It acts as a flux, a matting and crystallizing agent and combines with certain colouring oxides to produce unique colours not easily attainable by other means. In the brick, tile, earthenware and pottery industries barium carbonate is added to clays to precipitate soluble salts. Magnesium carbonate also has several important uses for man.)
To put it mildly, this minimization of poisonous elements, and ‘explosion’ of useful minerals, is strong evidence for Intelligently Designed terra-forming of the earth that ‘just so happens’ to be of great benefit to modern man.
Clearly many, if not all, of these metal ores and minerals laid down by these sulfate-reducing bacteria, as well as laid down by the biogeochemistry of more complex life, as well as laid down by finely-tuned geological conditions throughout the early history of the earth, have many unique properties which are crucial for technologically advanced life, and are thus indispensable to man’s rise above the stone age to the advanced ‘space-age’ technology of modern civilization.

If the Earth were destroyed once by a flood, this catastrophe would never have been completely forgotten.
There are flood legends in many ancient civilzations: African Pygmies, European Celts, South American Incas—all have similar legends, as do peoples of Alaska, Australia, China, India, Lithuania, Mexico, Micronesia, New Zealand, and parts of North America, to mention only a few. The narratives of the legends also have common points: God being angered by mankind’s wickedness; a flood being brought by God to destroy the wicked; mankind being destroyed; a few people being preserved alive; a vessel was used to save a few people and animals; birds were sent to look for dry land after the flood; the vessel landed upon a mountain. These similarities cannot possibly be coincidental. The combined evidence corroborates the Bible’s account of the flood.
The scriptures record a precise date for the flood as well. The second month of the ancient calendar ran from mid-October to mid-November (according to our calendar). The 17th day corresponds to November 1st, approximately. November 1st is All Souls’ Day and October 31st is Halloween, both festivals commemorating the dead.
But let’s also take a look at some scientific evidence.
Billions of tons of water deluged the earth (Genesis 7:11). This may have caused changes in the surface of the Earth. The Earth’s crust varies in thickness, and likely under the weight of all the water, there was a great shifting in the crust. Mountains would have been created, new shorelines would have been established, and now 70% of the Earth is covered by water. Geologic phenomena attest to this (See The Biblical Flood and the Ice Epoch, by D. Patten, 1966, p. 62.)
Paleontologists have found remains of mammoths and rhinoceroses in different parts of the earth. Some of these were found in Siberian cliffs; others were preserved in Siberian and Alaskan ice. In fact, some were found with food undigested in their stomachs or still unchewed in their teeth, indicating that they died suddenly. The fossil remains of many other animals, such as lions, tigers, bears, and elk, have been found in common strata, which may indicate that all of these were destroyed simultaneously. This could also be considered definite physical proof of a rapid change in climate and sudden destruction caused by a universal flood.
