If the Earth were destroyed once by a flood, this catastrophe would never have been completely forgotten.
There are flood legends in many ancient civilzations: African Pygmies, European Celts, South American Incas—all have similar legends, as do peoples of Alaska, Australia, China, India, Lithuania, Mexico, Micronesia, New Zealand, and parts of North America, to mention only a few. The narratives of the legends also have common points: God being angered by mankind’s wickedness; a flood being brought by God to destroy the wicked; mankind being destroyed; a few people being preserved alive; a vessel was used to save a few people and animals; birds were sent to look for dry land after the flood; the vessel landed upon a mountain. These similarities cannot possibly be coincidental. The combined evidence corroborates the Bible’s account of the flood.
The scriptures record a precise date for the flood as well. The second month of the ancient calendar ran from mid-October to mid-November (according to our calendar). The 17th day corresponds to November 1st, approximately. November 1st is All Souls’ Day and October 31st is Halloween, both festivals commemorating the dead.
But let’s also take a look at some scientific evidence.
Billions of tons of water deluged the earth (Genesis 7:11). This may have caused changes in the surface of the Earth. The Earth’s crust varies in thickness, and likely under the weight of all the water, there was a great shifting in the crust. Mountains would have been created, new shorelines would have been established, and now 70% of the Earth is covered by water. Geologic phenomena attest to this (See The Biblical Flood and the Ice Epoch, by D. Patten, 1966, p. 62.)
Paleontologists have found remains of mammoths and rhinoceroses in different parts of the earth. Some of these were found in Siberian cliffs; others were preserved in Siberian and Alaskan ice. In fact, some were found with food undigested in their stomachs or still unchewed in their teeth, indicating that they died suddenly. The fossil remains of many other animals, such as lions, tigers, bears, and elk, have been found in common strata, which may indicate that all of these were destroyed simultaneously. This could also be considered definite physical proof of a rapid change in climate and sudden destruction caused by a universal flood.Barb

But the one thing that never gets mentioned in these debates on global warming is the underlying philosophical bias of those who believe in global warming.
People who believe in global warming, for the most part, apparently do not believe that the Earth was prepared in advance for humans by God so that they could have a technologically advanced civilization on Earth.,,, For most environmentalist, their core belief would be something like this, 'the Earth would be better place if such 'unnatural' technologically advanced humans did not exist and we had a more primitive, 'natural', society'. Perhaps it could be called the 'Adam and Eve' complex since, supposedly, we would all be better off if we 'got back to nature' and just ran around naked in the woods. :)
Some evironmentalists of the atheistic persuasion would go much further in their disdain for 'unnatural' technologically advanced humans than just trying to shut down industry,,,
