The title of John Farrell’s article in Commonweal from earlier this year is a dead giveaway. But an even more fatal flaw for the Atheist is his insistence that the laws of nature 'just are' and that the laws of nature do not need God in order to sustain them in their continual, unchanging, existence. In other words, an even more fatal flaw for the Atheist is his complete denial of the Agent Causality of God. In his complete denial of the Agent Causality of God being necessary in order to sustain the universe in its continual existence, the atheist also ends up denying his very own agent causality (and/or denying his very own consciousness and free will). This denial of their very own agent causality by atheists is terminally fatal in that it leads to the catastrophic epistemological failure of the entire atheistic worldview. Moreover, although the Atheist may have severely deluded himself into thinking that the Agent Causality of God is not necessary to sustain this universe in its continual existence, and may have also severely deluded himself into thinking his own agent causality (and/or free will) is superfluous, the Agent Causality of God (and even our very own free will), via quantum mechanics, has come storming back with a vengeance. Moreover Steven Weinberg himself, an atheist, noted that in quantum mechanics, in what is termed 'the instrumentalist approach’, humans are brought into the laws of physics at the most fundamental level instead of humans being a result of the laws of physics as Darwinists had falsely imagined us to be.

Needless to say, Atheists don’t like the “instrumentalist approach” of quantum mechanics since it, by letting free will into the laws of nature at the most fundamental level., directly undermines the Darwinian worldview from within. Yet, the “instrumentalist approach”, in spite of how atheists may personally feel about it, is experimentally confirmed to be true by contextuality and/or by the Kochen-Speckter Theorem. Because of such evidence as this in quantum mechanics, Richard Conn Henry, who is Professor of Physics at John Hopkins University, stated this “It is more than 80 years since the discovery of quantum mechanics gave us the most fundamental insight ever into our nature: the overturning of the Copernican Revolution, and the restoration of us human beings to centrality in the Universe.”

The reason that Leibniz (and even Laplace) objected to Newton's suggestion that God could adjust the orbits of the planets to keep them in order was not because they thought the laws of the universe to be independent and immutable, but was because they rightly believed that God was infinite and perfect in knowledge and would thus get the orbits of the solar system right the first time. They correctly held that it would reflect badly on Almighty God if He had to tweak His creation from time to time.

As to not having to "remedy the defects of His creation", I hold that both Newton and Leibniz (and even Laplace) would be very pleased by what modern science has now revealed about the widom and power of God:

Of course Atheists, with their dependence on randomness as the creator of all things, have no clue how the solar system could have remained so remarkably stable for all these billions of years, and, again with the dependence on randomness as the creator of all things, atheists have even less of a clue how the unchanging, finely tuned, laws of nature came about in the first place. Whereas, again, Newton and Leibniz (and even Laplace) would be very pleased by the wisdom and power of God reflected in His creation.bornagain77
