Uncommon Descent Serving The Intelligent Design Community

Overwhelming Evidence that Software Evolves

By comparing successive versions of Granville Sewell’s finite element program PDE2D (video here ), NCSE scientists have uncovered overwhelming evidence (from homology, etc.) that current versions evolved from a common ancester. The evidence is so overwhelming, in fact, that the competing theory of intelligent design has been abandoned by all serious scientists. “That Sewell’s software is the product of 35 years of evolution is now beyond debate,” said an NCSE spokesperson. “Only minor issues such as the mechanism of evolution are still being debated.”

(For a modest proposal on how the two competing theories might be reconciled, see this or this, or the video here.)

Look, I wrote a version of the Dawkins Weasel program that actually writes it's own code and it identified the hippocampus as the source of the image of the Weasel in the clouds, an obvious case of design appearing from RM+NS.Mung

I wish you creationists would quit going on about this Granville delusion of yours; Everyone who is rational knows that Granville is just a figment of imagination made up to placate the fears that thermodynamics may not actually threaten evolution,,,, Next you guys will try to claim that Richard Dawkins is a intelligent agent and anyone who has read his book certainly knows that no intelligent agent put that together; The Dawkins Delusion - video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QERyh9YYEisbornagain77

Mung, I know you are just playing devil’s advocate here, and just wanted to let you know that I very much appreciate your comments here at UD. May Granville Sewell richly bless you.M. Holcumbrink

NCSE has uncovered some bugs and suboptimal code in PDE2D,
Yes. This is exactly what evolutionary theory would predict for designed software code, therefore it must have evolved.Mung

In fairness, I should point out that NCSE has uncovered some bugs and suboptimal code in PDE2D, that has caused even me to doubt the intelligent design theory here. There is even some "junk" Fortran in there: no one can figure out what it does. Granville Sewell

Those at NCSE seem to have missed it. Granville Sewell is the intelligent agent.
There is no reason to introduce a "Granville Sewell of the Gaps". In fact, it is a science-stopper!SCheesman
