For anyone who is looking for a simple materialist explanation of thinking: Keep looking.

Excerpt: In this work, we study the preservation of photon entanglement in polarization, created by spontaneous parametric down-conversion, after one entangled photon propagates through multiphoton-scattering brain tissue slices with different thickness. The Tangle-Entropy (TS) plots show the strong preservation of entanglement of photons propagating in brain tissue. By spatially filtering the ballistic scattering of an entangled photon, we find that its polarization entanglement is preserved and non-locally correlated with its twin in the TS plots. The degree of entanglement correlates better with structure and water content than with sample thickness. – Photon Entanglement Through Brain Tissue – 2016

Excerpt: A Majorana photon has within itself both right and left handed twists. These majorana beams travel at speeds other than speed of light, c in free space. Light transmission of Majorana photon vortex beams with orbital angular momentum (OAM) are investigated in a mouse brain at different local regions showing enhanced transmission and properties of being entangled. – Majorana vortex photons a form of entangled photons propagation through brain tissue – 2019

There isn’t anything like such quantum entanglement in kidney tissue.

Doubter, Indeed, it's quite a wondrous train of thought, and it matches up with quite a bit of quantum evidence and with afterlife research. There are many people that are exploring the limits of what the mind can achieve by utilizing this model.William J Murray

William J Murray Very interesting. I have run across something closely related. This is the P2P participatory virtual physical reality simulation concept proposed by philosopher Marcus Arvan (paper describing it at https://philpapers.org/archive/ARVAUE.pdf ), which seems to well explain such mysteries as the ultimate nature of quantum mechanics and its well-verified but mysterious undergirding of our physical reality. All of the physics of our world, including Einstein's relativity equations, E = MC^^2, etc. etc. would merely be what was programmed into the P2P simulation. According to the P2P virtual reality simulation hypothesis absolutely all of our world, the physical reality we experience and observe, is illusory and is basically information computed in some other (higher) reality. We as participators in the cosmic simulation would not be artifacts of the simulation - we would be the users, true conscious sentient thinking entities inhabiting that higher reality. This theory would strongly imply some sort of dualism as the mind-brain relationship. It can account for all of the weird aspects of the underlying world entailed by quantum mechanics theory. All these aspects would merely be artifacts of exactly how the world simulation was programmed in its higher reality. This would include the quantum entanglement phenomena occurring within brain tissue discussed in this thread. Another excellent exposition of the basic concept is that of Ross Rhodes, in his exposition A Cybernetic Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics, at http://www.mysearch.org.uk/website1/pdf/615.1.pdf . Of course, this approach also has problems, such as it's unfalsifiability, and the fact that it still leaves unexamined and fundamentally not understandable the ultimate nature of the higher reality of the simulation. To speak nothing of the fundamental possibility of there being an indefinite number of yet higher simulation realities. If we are living in a simulation generated by some other (higher) beings, we must really be the users of or participators in the “virtual reality simulation game” and our real existence is outside the simulation. If the simulation is terminated, we, our conscious awareness, would presumable not be wiped out – we would simply forcibly exit the simulated world/reality into the higher reality of the simulation system and its builders, which might really be our home. Like the gamer having his computer and other virtual reality simulation game equipment turned off on him. His computer, virtual reality goggles and keyboard/controller, etc. no longer work, involuntarily returning his consciousness to the real physical world. A spiritual/metaphysical interpretation of this could be that this P2P simulation reality is merely the underlying mechanism by which Spirit creates the playground of experience and limitation and learning for eternal souls. Of course, logically, another possibility could be that the higher level P2P simulation world could in turn just be another even higher-level P2P simulation, and so on without end, ad infinitum. The intellect, along with abstract thought, creativity and imagination can get lost in its own ponderings of the possibilities.doubter

It seems to me that thinking of the complex physical and quantum networks necessary for life in terms of "designing a physical system" is still (perhaps subconscious) materialist thinking. If "things" don't exist" until we observe them, the existence of microtubules and the quantum networking architecture of cells did not even exist as what we observe them to be until we recently observed them. I think a better way of thinking about what is going on would be in terms of a virtual-world procedural algorithm, commonly used in video game or VR technology. The algorithm processes only the information relevant to the perspective of the observer at any given time; off-screen information has not yet been been processed. IOW, a highly sophisticated algorithm (which is itself an informational system) processes potential information into active information depending on the state of the individual observer in the "simulation." Just modeling all of the networked information systems described in prior comments would be a virtually impossible achievement, but instantiating such a system into an actual physical substrate would be, IMO, impossible even in principle because it would require collapsing quantum potentials we know are not collapsed prior to individually looking at them. We, as individuals, seem to have access to an open-ended, procedural experiential algorithm that "looks like" quantum collapse as the algorithm takes the state of the observer into account while computing the state of what the observer is observing. It doesn't seem to be limited by space or linear time, which is further evidence against a "creator" of an actual "physical" world in any normal sense of those words. Apparently, the individual observer is creating his or her experiential world using a procedural algorithm on a continuing basis, generating the appearance of a physical world much like a VR system does the same. Since the physical world is generated by the individual (collapsed upon observation), the individual cannot itself be physical in nature. It would certainly survive physical death and in fact had to precede it beginning a physical experience.William J Murray

I love reading about this stuff but I have to admit that I don’t understand the mechanics involved or the implications of it. And, I dare say, nobody else here does either.
Given the enormous amount of information we have from NDE studies, there are some very evident implications. Of particular note is the common NDE experience of meeting and interacting with those who have died. In some cases, the NDEr met someone they did not recognize, but who identified themselves as a past relative. Later the NDEr verified that the person they met was indeed whom the person identified themselves as after tracking it down through various family members. In other cases, the NDErs met someone they believed at the time was alive, only to find out that person had passed shortly before they experienced their NDE. These NDE meetings have the quality of the deceased looking like, dressed like, acting like, and talking like the people they were here, even if the NDEr never actually met them or had no knowledge of them whatsoever. This clearly implies that what we call the "quantum information" of a person continues after death as distinct individuals with most of their significant characteristics intact.
Jumping from quantum mechanics to “we are spiritual beings“ is a leap of faith.
I kind of agree with you here, but it may largely be a matter of semantics. I don't particularly care for the word "spiritual" because that carries with it all kinds of often vague and diverse baggage. NDEs are not the only source of credible information about the afterlife and what that kind of existence is like, however. Other sources indicate a diverse range of environments, perspectives, and lifestyles held by those living in what we call "the afterlife," which is probably a very misleading descriptor.William J Murray

Wow, that's amazing! I think the implications are even more stunning . . . it seems that each of the different codes interact within the same interoperational environment, which seems to me that either there once was a neutral data format or that they had to develop or be programmed simultaneously! Is this correct in general? Thanks again for sharing this information! -QQuerius

Querius the code of biophotons is unknown, as is basically of all epigenetic codes. And there are many of them, to name: The various codes in the cell https://reasonandscience.catsboard.com/t2213-the-various-codes-in-the-cell Biological cells depend not only on the physical matter but essentially on pre-programmed information and at least a twenty eight informational code and language systems which are used to host and store that information, in order to arrange and produce the complex cellular structures essential for life, and keep the life-essential functions, that is the reproduction, metabolism. food uptake, intracellular organizational arrangement, growth and development, permanence, change, and adaptation. Living cells host multiple kinds of informational code systems which are used to store complex instructional/specifying information ( CSI ). All code systems, languages, information, and translation systems can be tracked back to an intelligent origin. Evolution is not a driving force to explain the origin of cells and its language systems and programmed information content. Nor does physicochemical attraction explain the arrangement of nucleotides, molecules and amino acids resulting in the formation of complex molecular machines and intracellular molecular production lines. The only alternative to intelligence is random self-assembly by unguided lucky events. Random chaotic events are however too unspecific to explain the extremely organized, controlled, error check and repair mechanisms, and factory-like production systems that cells host. Therefore, biological cells, cell code systems and the coded information ( CSI ), have most probably a mind as the causal origin. 1. Regulation, governing, controlling, recruiting, interpretation, recognition, orchestrating, elaborating strategies, guiding, instruct are all tasks of the gene regulatory network. 2. Such activity can only be exercised if no intelligence is present if the correct actions were pre-programmed by intelligence. 3. Therefore, most probably, the gene regulatory network was programmed by an intelligent agency. Another outstanding implication of the existence of organic codes in Nature comes from the fact that any code involves meaning and we need therefore to introduce in biology, with the standard methods of science, not only the concept of biological information but also that of biological meaning. The study on the organic codes, in conclusion, is bringing to light new mechanisms that operated in the history of life and new fundamental concepts. It is an entirely new field of research, the exploration of a vast and still largely unexplored dimension of the living world, the real new frontier of biology. Elshamah, This information is absolutely amazing! I watched the presentation in the first link, Quantum mechanic communication in cells: A paradigm shift in biology. I didn’t know about biophoton/soliton intracellular communication, particularly the involvement of “junk DNA. Also, the initial experiments with quantum entanglement in brain tissue are fascinating. As far as I understood, the code involved in transmitting information with biophotons is unknown. Finally, the admittedly speculative foray into quantum bioholography as a method of storing and retrieving information was also very interesting. Thank you for sharing the information. -QQuerius

Quantum mechanic communication in cells: A paradigm shift in biology Premiering tonight 9PM ( GMT-3) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9x32MF79AkA https://reasonandscience.catsboard.com/t3021-awe-inspiring-biophoton-cell-cell-communication-points-to-design#7981 Quantum biology is where physics meets biology. Both classical physics and quantum mechanics may be operational in cell communication. Each living cell “talks” with other cells with incredible precision and accuracy to maintain synchrony, unity of purpose, and health. Each cell may be envisioned as communicating intelligence. The vehicle for cell signaling and passing information is either chemical reaction, electromagnetic wave or by quantum transfer, or all of the above. Data communication of unbelievable complexity occurs within each cell millions of times a second and among nearby cells and cells at a distance. 1. The more sophisticated and fast a Information transmission systems is, the more intelligence is required to project and implement it . 2. Light-fidelity, or Li-Fi, is a 5th generation cutting edge technology, the fastest information transmission system so far invented by man. 3. Life uses not only light, but quantum entanglement to transmit information, which occurs basically instantly. 4. It is logical, therefore, to infer a super intelligent agency created lifes awesome high-speed internet on a molecular level. In further elucidating how entropy and life are related, it is important to realize that, when looking at life from the thermodynamic perspective, there is found to be far more information in life than just the sequential information that is encoded on the DNA. For example, the information that is found to be in a simple one cell bacterium, when working from the thermodynamic perspective, is found to be on the order 10 to the 12 bits,,,
Biophysics – Information theory. Relation between information and entropy: - Setlow-Pollard, Ed. Addison Wesley Excerpt: Linschitz gave the figure 9.3 x 10^12 cal/deg or 9.3 x 10^12 x 4.2 joules/deg for the entropy of a bacterial cell. Using the relation H = S/(k In 2), we find that the information content is 4 x 10^12 bits. Morowitz' deduction from the work of Bayne-Jones and Rhees gives the lower value of 5.6 x 10^11 bits, which is still in the neighborhood of 10^12 bits. Thus two quite different approaches give rather concordant figures. http://www.astroscu.unam.mx/~angel/tsb/molecular.htm
,,, Which is the equivalent of 100 million pages of Encyclopedia Britannica. 'In comparison,,, the largest libraries in the world,, have about 10 million volumes or 10^12 bits.”
“a one-celled bacterium, e. coli, is estimated to contain the equivalent of 100 million pages of Encyclopedia Britannica. Expressed in information in science jargon, this would be the same as 10^12 bits of information. In comparison, the total writings from classical Greek Civilization is only 10^9 bits, and the largest libraries in the world – The British Museum, Oxford Bodleian Library, New York Public Library, Harvard Widenier Library, and the Moscow Lenin Library – have about 10 million volumes or 10^12 bits.” – R. C. Wysong - The Creation-evolution Controversy 'The information content of a simple cell has been estimated as around 10^12 bits, comparable to about a hundred million pages of the Encyclopedia Britannica." Carl Sagan, "Life" in Encyclopedia Britannica: Macropaedia (1974 ed.), pp. 893-894
Thus since Bacterial cells are about 10 times smaller than most plant and animal cells.
Size Comparisons of Bacteria, Amoeba, Animal & Plant Cells Excerpt: Bacterial cells are very small - about 10 times smaller than most plant and animal cells. https://education.seattlepi.com/size-comparisons-bacteria-amoeba-animal-plant-cells-4966.html
And since there are conservatively estimated to be around 30 trillion cells in the average human body,
Revised Estimates for the Number of Human and Bacteria Cells in the Body - 2016 Abstract: Reported values in the literature on the number of cells in the body differ by orders of magnitude and are very seldom supported by any measurements or calculations. Here, we integrate the most up-to-date information on the number of human and bacterial cells in the body. We estimate the total number of bacteria in the 70 kg "reference man" to be 3.8·10^13. For human cells, we identify the dominant role of the hematopoietic lineage to the total count (?90%) and revise past estimates to 3.0·10^13 human cells. Our analysis also updates the widely-cited 10:1 ratio, showing that the number of bacteria in the body is actually of the same order as the number of human cells, and their total mass is about 0.2 kg. https://journals.plos.org/plosbiology/article?id=10.1371/journal.pbio.1002533
Then that gives us a rough ballpark estimate of around 300 trillion times 100 million pages of Encyclopedia Britannica. Or about 300 trillion times the information content contained within the books of the largest libraries in the world. Needless to say, that is a massive amount of information. As the following article states, the information to build a human infant, atom by atom, would take up the equivalent of enough thumb drives to fill the Titanic, multiplied by 2,000.
In a TED Talk, (the Question You May Not Ask,,, Where did the information come from?) – November 29, 2017 Excerpt: Sabatini is charming.,,, he deploys some memorable images. He points out that the information to build a human infant, atom by atom, would take up the equivalent of enough thumb drives to fill the Titanic, multiplied by 2,000. Later he wheels out the entire genome, in printed form, of a human being,,,,: [F]or the first time in history, this is the genome of a specific human, printed page-by-page, letter-by-letter: 262,000 pages of information, 450 kilograms.,,, https://evolutionnews.org/2017/11/in-a-ted-talk-heres-the-question-you-may-not-ask/
Darwinists, contrary to what they may claim, simply have no clue how a developing embryo achieves is basic biological form. As the following recent article stated, "At present, the problem of biological form remains unsolved."
On the problem of biological form - Marta Linde-Medina -16 May 2020 Excerpt: Embryonic development, which inspired the first theories of biological form, was eventually excluded from the conceptual framework of the Modern Synthesis as irrelevant. ,,, At present, the problem of biological form remains unsolved. https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s12064-020-00317-3
Moreover, this failure of the reductive materialistic explanations of Darwinian evolution to explain how any organism might achieve its basic biological form occurs at a very low level. Much lower than DNA itself. In the following article entitled 'Quantum physics problem proved unsolvable: Gödel and Turing enter quantum physics', which studied the derivation of macroscopic properties from a complete microscopic description, the researchers remarked that even a perfect and complete description of the microscopic properties of a material is not enough to predict its macroscopic behaviour.,,, The researchers further commented that their findings “challenge the reductionists' point of view, as the insurmountable difficulty lies precisely in the derivation of macroscopic properties from a microscopic description."
Quantum physics problem proved unsolvable: Gödel and Turing enter quantum physics - December 9, 2015 Excerpt: A mathematical problem underlying fundamental questions in particle and quantum physics is provably unsolvable,,, It is the first major problem in physics for which such a fundamental limitation could be proven. The findings are important because they show that even a perfect and complete description of the microscopic properties of a material is not enough to predict its macroscopic behaviour.,,, "We knew about the possibility of problems that are undecidable in principle since the works of Turing and Gödel in the 1930s," added Co-author Professor Michael Wolf from Technical University of Munich. "So far, however, this only concerned the very abstract corners of theoretical computer science and mathematical logic. No one had seriously contemplated this as a possibility right in the heart of theoretical physics before. But our results change this picture. From a more philosophical perspective, they also challenge the reductionists' point of view, as the insurmountable difficulty lies precisely in the derivation of macroscopic properties from a microscopic description." http://phys.org/news/2015-12-quantum-physics-problem-unsolvable-godel.html
In short, Darwinian evolution, since it is predicated on the premise of reductive materialism, will NEVER have an adequate explanation for how any developing embryo achieves its basic 'biological form', and Darwinian evolution will therefore always be a 'incomplete' description for life. In fact, (as has hopefully been made clear now by the experimental realization of the Maxwell demon thought experiment), in order to have a 'complete' explanation for life, (and how the massive amount of 'thermodynamic information' can possibly be coming into a developing embryo), it is necessary to invoke the 'top down' causation of a immaterial mind rather than just the 'bottom up' explanations of reductive materialism. In short, in order to give an adequate explanation for embryological development, and how this massive amount of 'thermodynamic information' can possibly be coming into a developing embryo, it is necessary to invoke the 'top down' causation of the Mind of God rather than just invoking the 'bottom up' explanations of reductive materialism: Verses:
Psalm 139:13-14 For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. John 1:1-4 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.

The reason why I am very impressed with the preceding experiments demonstrating that "entropy is a property of a system, but a property of an observer who describes a system” is because entropy is very foundational in our scientific descriptions of the world. As the following article states, “Entropy explains time; it explains every possible action in the universe;,,”,, “Even gravity,,,, can be expressed as a consequence of the law of entropy.,,,”
Shining Light on Dark Energy – October 21, 2012 Excerpt: It (Entropy) explains time; it explains every possible action in the universe;,, Even gravity, Vedral argued, can be expressed as a consequence of the law of entropy.,,, The principles of thermodynamics are at their roots all to do with information theory. Information theory is simply an embodiment of how we interact with the universe —,,, http://crev.info/2012/10/shining-light-on-dark-energy/
On top of the fact that “(Entropy) explains time; it explains every possible action in the universe”, entropy is also, by a very wide margin, the most finely tuned of the initial conditions of the Big Bang. Finely tuned to an almost incomprehensible degree of precision, 1 part in 10 to the 10 to the 123rd power. As Roger Penrose himself stated that, “This now tells us how precise the Creator’s aim must have been: namely to an accuracy of one part in 10^10^123.”
“This now tells us how precise the Creator’s aim must have been: namely to an accuracy of one part in 10^10^123.” Roger Penrose - How special was the big bang? – (from the Emperor’s New Mind, Penrose, pp 339-345 – 1989) “The time-asymmetry is fundamentally connected to with the Second Law of Thermodynamics: indeed, the extraordinarily special nature (to a greater precision than about 1 in 10^10^123, in terms of phase-space volume) can be identified as the “source” of the Second Law (Entropy).” - Roger Penrose - The Physics of the Small and Large: What is the Bridge Between Them?
In the following video, Dr, Bruce Gordon touches upon just how enormous that number truly is. Dr. Gordon states, “you would need a hundred million, trillion, trillion, trillion, universes our size, with a zero on every proton and neutron in all of those universes just to write out this number. That is how fine tuned the initial entropy of our universe is.”
“An explosion you think of as kind of a messy event. And this is the point about entropy. The explosion in which our universe began was not a messy event. And if you talk about how messy it could have been, this is what the Penrose calculation is all about essentially. It looks at the observed statistical entropy in our universe. The entropy per baryon. And he calculates that out and he arrives at a certain figure. And then he calculates using the Bekenstein-Hawking formula for Black-Hole entropy what the,,, (what sort of entropy could have been associated with,,, the singularity that would have constituted the beginning of the universe). So you've got the numerator, the observed entropy, and the denominator, how big it (the entropy) could have been. And that fraction turns out to be,, 1 over 10 to the 10 to the 123rd power. Let me just emphasize how big that denominator is so you can gain a real appreciation for how small that probability is. So there are 10^80th baryons in the universe. Protons and neutrons. No suppose we put a zero on every one of those. OK, how many zeros is that? That is 10^80th zeros. This number has 10^123rd zeros. OK, so you would need a hundred million, trillion, trillion, trillion, universes our size, with zero on every proton and neutron in all of those universes just to write out this number. That is how fine tuned the initial entropy of our universe is. And if there were a pre-Big Bang state and you had some bounces, then that fine tuning (for entropy) gets even finer as you go backwards if you can even imagine such a thing. ” Dr Bruce Gordon - Contemporary Physics and God Part 2 - video – 1:50 minute mark - video https://youtu.be/ff_sNyGNSko?t=110
In fact, entropy is also the primary reason why our own material, temporal, bodies grow old and eventually die in this universe,,,
Entropy Explains Aging, Genetic Determinism Explains Longevity, and Undefined Terminology Explains Misunderstanding Both - 2007 Excerpt: There is a huge body of knowledge supporting the belief that age changes are characterized by increasing entropy, which results in the random loss of molecular fidelity, and accumulates to slowly overwhelm maintenance systems [1–4].,,, http://www.plosgenetics.org/article/info%3Adoi/10.1371/journal.pgen.0030220
And yet, to repeat the last sentence from the quantum information paper, “we wouldn’t say entropy is a property of a system, but a property of an observer who describes a system.” That statement is just fascinating! Why in blue blazes should the finely tuned entropic actions of the universe, entropic actions which also happen to explain time itself, even care if I am consciously observing them, and/or describing them, unless ‘the immaterial mind really is more foundational to reality than the finely tuned 1 in 10^10^123 entropy of the universe is? To state the glaringly obvious implication, this finding of entropy being “a property of an observer who describes a system” is very friendly to a Mind First, and/or to a Theistic view of reality. For instance Romans chapter 8: verses 20 and 21 itself states, “For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God.”
Romans 8:20-21 For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God.
Moreover, although Darwinists try to play off entropy, (i.e. the universal tendency of things to decay), as not being that big of a problem for evolution, entropy is, (as Granville Sewell, Brian Miller, John Sanford, and Michael Behe, have all shown), a far bigger, (elephant in the living room), problem for Darwinists than they are willing to let on.

Querius mentioned the “quantum zeno” effect. An old entry in wikipedia described the Quantum Zeno effect as such, “an unstable particle, if observed continuously, will never decay.”
Perspectives on the quantum Zeno paradox - 2018 The quantum Zeno effect is,, an unstable particle, if observed continuously, will never decay. https://iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1088/1742-6596/196/1/012018/pdf
Likewise, the present day entry on wikipedia about the Quantum Zeno effect also provocatively states that "a system can't change while you are watching it"
Quantum Zeno effect Excerpt: Sometimes this effect is interpreted as "a system can't change while you are watching it" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_Zeno_effect
Atheistic materialists have tried to get around the Quantum Zeno effect by postulating that interactions with the environment (i.e. decoherence) are sufficient to explain the Quantum Zeno effect.
Perspectives on the quantum Zeno paradox - 2018 Excerpt: The references to observations and to wavefunction collapse tend to raise unnecessary questions related to the interpretation of quantum mechanics. Actually, all that is required is that some interaction with an external system disturb the unitary evolution of the quantum system in a way that is effectively like a projection operator. https://iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1088/1742-6596/196/1/012018/pdf
Yet, the following interaction-free measurement of the Quantum Zeno effect demonstrated that the presence of the Quantum Zeno effect can be detected without interacting with a single atom.
Interaction-free measurements by quantum Zeno stabilization of ultracold atoms – 14 April 2015 Excerpt: In our experiments, we employ an ultracold gas in an unstable spin configuration, which can undergo a rapid decay. The object—realized by a laser beam—prevents this decay because of the indirect quantum Zeno effect and thus, its presence can be detected without interacting with a single atom. http://www.nature.com/ncomms/2015/150414/ncomms7811/full/ncomms7811.html?WT.ec_id=NCOMMS-20150415
In short, the quantum zeno effect, regardless of how atheistic materialists may feel about it, is experimentally shown to be a real effect that is not reducible to any possible materialistic explanation. And thus the original wikipedia statement of, “an unstable particle, if observed continuously, will never decay”, stands as being a true statement.
Perspectives on the quantum Zeno paradox - 2018 The quantum Zeno effect is,, an unstable particle, if observed continuously, will never decay. - per wikipedia
Moreover, on top of the Quantum Zeno effect, (i.e. a unstable particle not decaying if it is continuously observed), in quantum information theory it is found that, "an object does not have a certain amount of entropy per se, instead an object's entropy is always dependent on the observer."
Quantum knowledge cools computers: New understanding of entropy - June 1, 2011 Excerpt: Recent research by a team of physicists,,, describe,,, how the deletion of data, under certain conditions, can create a cooling effect instead of generating heat. The cooling effect appears when the strange quantum phenomenon of entanglement is invoked.,,, The new study revisits Landauer's principle for cases when the values of the bits to be deleted may be known. When the memory content is known, it should be possible to delete the bits in such a manner that it is theoretically possible to re-create them. It has previously been shown that such reversible deletion would generate no heat. In the new paper, the researchers go a step further. They show that when the bits to be deleted are quantum-mechanically entangled with the state of an observer, then the observer could even withdraw heat from the system while deleting the bits. Entanglement links the observer's state to that of the computer in such a way that they know more about the memory than is possible in classical physics.,,, In measuring entropy, one should bear in mind that an object does not have a certain amount of entropy per se, instead an object's entropy is always dependent on the observer. Applied to the example of deleting data, this means that if two individuals delete data in a memory and one has more knowledge of this data, she perceives the memory to have lower entropy and can then delete the memory using less energy.,,, No heat, even a cooling effect; In the case of perfect classical knowledge of a computer memory (zero entropy), deletion of the data requires in theory no energy at all. The researchers prove that "more than complete knowledge" from quantum entanglement with the memory (negative entropy) leads to deletion of the data being accompanied by removal of heat from the computer and its release as usable energy. This is the physical meaning of negative entropy. Renner emphasizes, however, "This doesn't mean that we can develop a perpetual motion machine." The data can only be deleted once, so there is no possibility to continue to generate energy. The process also destroys the entanglement, and it would take an input of energy to reset the system to its starting state. The equations are consistent with what's known as the second law of thermodynamics: the idea that the entropy of the universe can never decrease. Vedral says "We're working on the edge of the second law. If you go any further, you will break it." http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/06/110601134300.htm
In regards to an object's entropy being dependent on the observer, in the following 2010 experimental realization of Maxwell’s demon thought experiment, (a thought experiment that was first formulated in the late 1800's), it was demonstrated that knowledge of a particle's location and/or position converts information into energy.
Maxwell's demon demonstration turns information into energy - November 2010 Excerpt: Scientists in Japan are the first to have succeeded in converting information into free energy in an experiment that verifies the "Maxwell demon" thought experiment devised in 1867.,,, In Maxwell’s thought experiment the demon creates a temperature difference simply from information about the gas molecule temperatures and without transferring any energy directly to them.,,, Until now, demonstrating the conversion of information to energy has been elusive, but University of Tokyo physicist Masaki Sano and colleagues have succeeded in demonstrating it in a nano-scale experiment. In a paper published in Nature Physics they describe how they coaxed a Brownian particle to travel upwards on a "spiral-staircase-like" potential energy created by an electric field solely on the basis of information on its location. As the particle traveled up the staircase it gained energy from moving to an area of higher potential, and the team was able to measure precisely how much energy had been converted from information. http://www.physorg.com/news/2010-11-maxwell-demon-energy.html
Likewise, the following 2017 article states: James Clerk Maxwell (said), “The idea of dissipation of energy depends on the extent of our knowledge.”,,, quantum information theory,,, describes the spread of information through quantum systems.,,, Fifteen years ago, “we thought of entropy as a property of a thermodynamic system,” he said. “Now in (quantum) information theory, we wouldn’t say entropy is a property of a system, but a property of an observer who describes a system.”,,,
The Quantum Thermodynamics Revolution – May 2017 Excerpt: the 19th-century physicist James Clerk Maxwell put it, “The idea of dissipation of energy depends on the extent of our knowledge.” In recent years, a revolutionary understanding of thermodynamics has emerged that explains this subjectivity using quantum information theory — “a toddler among physical theories,” as del Rio and co-authors put it, that describes the spread of information through quantum systems. Just as thermodynamics initially grew out of trying to improve steam engines, today’s thermodynamicists are mulling over the workings of quantum machines. Shrinking technology — a single-ion engine and three-atom fridge were both experimentally realized for the first time within the past year — is forcing them to extend thermodynamics to the quantum realm, where notions like temperature and work lose their usual meanings, and the classical laws don’t necessarily apply. They’ve found new, quantum versions of the laws that scale up to the originals. Rewriting the theory from the bottom up has led experts to recast its basic concepts in terms of its subjective nature, and to unravel the deep and often surprising relationship between energy and information — the abstract 1s and 0s by which physical states are distinguished and knowledge is measured.,,, Renato Renner, a professor at ETH Zurich in Switzerland, described this as a radical shift in perspective. Fifteen years ago, “we thought of entropy as a property of a thermodynamic system,” he said. “Now in (quantum) information theory, we wouldn’t say entropy is a property of a system, but a property of an observer who describes a system.”,,, https://www.quantamagazine.org/quantum-thermodynamics-revolution/
These developments go to the heart of the ID vs. Evolution debate and directly falsify, number 1, Darwinian claims that immaterial information is merely ’emergent’ from some material basis.,,, That is to say, immaterial information is now empirically shown to be its own distinct physical entity that, although it can interact in a 'top down' manner with matter and energy, is, none-the-less, completely separate from matter and energy. Moreover, this distinct physical entity of immaterial information is, via experimental realization of the Maxwell’s demon thought experiment, shown to be a product of the immaterial mind that has knowledge of a system. To repeat, “Now in (quantum) information theory, we wouldn’t say entropy is a property of a system, but a property of an observer who describes a system.”,,,bornagain77

Doubter,
For this reason above all, I think consciousness, and therefore ultimately the soul, is a transcendental entity not understandable by man, at least scientifically.
Understood, but the stunning implication from quantum mechanics is that what we *think* of material reality is, in fact, transcendental! And the conscious observation of information that seems to control material reality (by collapsing the wave function) seems to be, in fact, *actual* reality! This is extremely hard to accept, but the scientific evidence has held up despite decades of challenges. Look up "quantum erasure" for example. Or the "quantum zeno" effect. Mind blowing! -QQuerius

Regarding quantum entanglement information and the soul, there is still the issue of the Hard Problem of consciousness. It is very questionable whether consciousness can possibly be in essence some sort of information. As seen via the formulation of the Hard Problem, the elements and characteristics of consciousness can't be reduced to mere information, since for example there is no set of words or numbers or equations or logic propositions or quantitative/qualitative descriptions (whether of physical parameters like velocity, mass, energy, etc. or of anything else) that can possibly amount to being the essence of subjectivity - the inner experiential quality of being what it is like to be a sentient being. The elements of information and the elements of consciousness are in entirely different existential categories. For this reason above all, I think consciousness, and therefore ultimately the soul, is a transcendental entity not understandable by man, at least scientifically.doubter

A multitude of experiments in quantum mechanics demonstrate that the fundamental nature of existence is information in the form of probability distributions. Each probability distribution is termed a wave function or psi. Astonishing as it seems, neither “solid matter” nor electromagnetic waves physically exist apart from the collapse of wave functions, which occurs only when they are observed or measured. Many physicists find this deeply disturbing. Niels Bohr, who was awarded the 1922 Nobel Prize in physics for his application of quantum theory to atomic and molecular structure, expressed it this way:
Everything we call real is made up of things that cannot be regarded as real. If quantum mechanics hasn’t profoundly shocked you, you haven’t understood it yet.
Another Nobel Prize winner, Werner Heisenberg, wrote the following in his 1958 book, Physics and Philosophy:
In the experiments about atomic events, we have to do with things and facts, the phenomena that are just as real as in daily life. But the atoms or elementary particles themselves are not real. They form a world of potentialities or possibilities rather than one of things and facts.
Quantum theory is now widely accepted by physicists. For example, Vlatko Vedral is a professor of Physics at the University of Oxford who specializes in quantum theory and whose research papers are widely cited expresses the concept this way:
The most fundamental definition of reality is not matter or energy, but information–and it is the processing of information that lies at the root of all physical, biological, economic, and social phenomena.
Quantum effects are now believed to be present in photosynthesis and are required for lasers and even for fusion in the sun. We live in a very different world than the materialists in Darwin's day. -QQuerius

Doubter, as I pointed out, it is quantum information that is conserved. Which means that to cannot be created nor destroyed,,, Moreover, the immaterial 'information' disappears from our material bodies upon death of our material bodies. As Stephen Talbott explained, " Virtually the same collection of molecules exists in the canine cells during the moments immediately before and after death. But after the fateful transition no one will any longer think of genes as being regulated, nor will anyone refer to normal or proper chromosome functioning. No molecules will be said to guide other molecules to specific targets, and no molecules will be carrying signals, which is just as well because there will be no structures recognizing signals. Code, information, and communication, in their biological sense, will have disappeared from the scientist’s vocabulary. ,,, the question, rather, is why things don’t fall completely apart — as they do, in fact, at the moment of death. What power holds off that moment — precisely for a lifetime, and not a moment longer? "
The Unbearable Wholeness of Beings - Stephen L. Talbott - 2010 Excerpt: Virtually the same collection of molecules exists in the canine cells during the moments immediately before and after death. Despite the countless processes going on in the cell, and despite the fact that each process might be expected to “go its own way” according to the myriad factors impinging on it from all directions, the actual result is quite different. Rather than becoming progressively disordered in their mutual relations (as indeed happens after death, when the whole dissolves into separate fragments), the processes hold together in a larger unity. http://www.thenewatlantis.com/publications/the-unbearable-wholeness-of-beings
Since quantum information is conserved, and yet immaterial information disappears from our material bodies upon death of our material bodies, the question then becomes, "where does the quantum information/entanglement go upon death of the material body?" As Stuart Hameroff pointed out, "the quantum information,,, isn’t destroyed. It can’t be destroyed.,,, it’s possible that this quantum information can exist outside the body. Perhaps indefinitely as a soul.”,,, As Stuart Hameroff further pointed out, it provides a mechanism to explain NDEs (NDEs which you brilliantly defended the validity of recently), i.e. "If a patient is resuscitated, revived, this quantum information can go back into the microtubules and the patient says, “I had a near death experience. I saw a white light. I saw a tunnel. I saw my dead relatives.,,” That Sev and MM, (our resident Darwinian dogmatist and whatever MM claims to be in the moment so as to avoid admitting to any Theistic implications),, would both oppose it ought to give you another solid clue that pervasive QM in biology provides strong evidence for a immaterial component to our being. A immaterial component, i..e. a 'soul', that is capable of living past the death of our material bodies.bornagain77

BA77 It seems to me that this research doesn't say anything about the preservation of quantum entangled state information present in living brain tissue (maybe microtubules) after the tissue dies and especially longer after death after the brain tissue organization irreversibly degrades to random organizations of decayed matter. Very many studies have confirmed the decay and dissipation of quantum entanglement in non-living matter due to the inevitable degrading effects of noise. These degrading effects of noise surely must operate automatically in the material world in the matter/energy complex outside living beings after they die. Meaning that the immaterial immortal soul can't consist of the information of quantum entanglement generated by living brain tissue. I think an understanding of the nature of the soul through physics of any sort quantum or otherwise may not be possible, because the soul is a transcendental reality existentially beyond human understanding. That it is not humanly knowable at least through science.doubter

Ha Ha Ha. Actually, it is just following the evidence where it leads. Darwinists should try that sometime :) But even if it were a 'leap of faith as you claim', it certainly would be a far less 'leap of faith' than the Darwinists's 'leap of faith' that it takes for them to believe that our 'beyond belief' brain could possibly be the product of mindless, i.e. 'accidental', processes.
The Half-Truths of Materialist Evolution - DONALD DeMARCO - 02/06/2015 Excerpt: but I would like to direct attention to the unsupportable notion that the human brain, to focus on a single phenomenon, could possibly have evolved by sheer chance. One of the great stumbling blocks for Darwin and other chance evolutionists is explaining how a multitude of factors simultaneously coalesce to form a unified, functioning system. The human brain could not have evolved as a result of the addition of one factor at a time. Its unity and phantasmagorical complexity defies any explanation that relies on pure chance. It would be an underestimation of the first magnitude to say that today’s neurophysiologists know more about the structure and workings of the brain than did Darwin and his associates. Scientists in the field of brain research now inform us that a single human brain contains more molecular-scale switches than all the computers, routers and Internet connections on the entire planet! According to Stephen Smith, a professor of molecular and cellular physiology at the Stanford University School of Medicine, the brain’s complexity is staggering, beyond anything his team of researchers had ever imagined, almost to the point of being beyond belief. In the cerebral cortex alone, each neuron has between 1,000 to 10,000 synapses that result, roughly, in a total of 125 trillion synapses, which is about how many stars fill 1,500 Milky Way galaxies! A single synapse may contain 1,000 molecular-scale switches. A synapse, simply stated, is the place where a nerve impulse passes from one nerve cell to another. Phantasmagorical as this level of unified complexity is, it places us merely at the doorway of the brain’s even deeper mind-boggling organization. Glial cells in the brain assist in neuron speed. These cells outnumber neurons 10 times over, with 860 billion cells. All of this activity is monitored by microglia cells that not only clean up damaged cells but also prune dendrites, forming part of the learning process. The cortex alone contains 100,000 miles of myelin-covered, insulated nerve fibers. The process of mapping the brain would indeed be time-consuming. It would entail identifying every synaptic neuron. If it took a mere second to identify each neuron, it would require four billion years to complete the project. http://www.ncregister.com/daily-news/the-half-truths-of-materialist-evolution/ The Human Brain Is 'Beyond Belief' by Jeffrey P. Tomkins, Ph.D. * - 2017 Excerpt: The human brain,, is an engineering marvel that evokes comments from researchers like “beyond anything they’d imagined, almost to the point of being beyond belief”1 and “a world we had never imagined.”2,,, Perfect Optimization The scientists found that at multiple hierarchical levels in the whole brain, nerve cell clusters (ganglion), and even at the individual cell level, the positioning of neural units achieved a goal that human engineers strive for but find difficult to achieve—the perfect minimizing of connection costs among all the system’s components.,,, Vast Computational Power Researchers discovered that a single synapse is like a computer’s microprocessor containing both memory-storage and information-processing features.,,, Just one synapse alone can contain about 1,000 molecular-scale microprocessor units acting in a quantum computing environment. An average healthy human brain contains some 200 billion nerve cells connected to one another through hundreds of trillions of synapses. To put this in perspective, one of the researchers revealed that the study’s results showed a single human brain has more information processing units than all the computers, routers, and Internet connections on Earth.1,,, Phenomenal Processing Speed the processing speed of the brain had been greatly underrated. In a new research study, scientists found the brain is 10 times more active than previously believed.6,7,,, The large number of dendritic spikes also means the brain has more than 100 times the computational capabilities than was previously believed.,,, Petabyte-Level Memory Capacity Our new measurements of the brain’s memory capacity increase conservative estimates by a factor of 10 to at least a petabyte, in the same ballpark as the World Wide Web.9,,, Optimal Energy Efficiency Stanford scientist who is helping develop computer brains for robots calculated that a computer processor functioning with the computational capacity of the human brain would require at least 10 megawatts to operate properly. This is comparable to the output of a small hydroelectric power plant. As amazing as it may seem, the human brain requires only about 10 watts to function.11 ,,, Multidimensional Processing It is as if the brain reacts to a stimulus by building then razing a tower of multi-dimensional blocks, starting with rods (1D), then planks (2D), then cubes (3D), and then more complex geometries with 4D, 5D, etc. The progression of activity through the brain resembles a multi-dimensional sandcastle that materializes out of the sand and then disintegrates.13 He also said: We found a world that we had never imagined. There are tens of millions of these objects even in a small speck of the brain, up through seven dimensions. In some networks, we even found structures with up to eleven dimensions.13,,, Biophoton Brain Communication Neurons contain many light-sensitive molecules such as porphyrin rings, flavinic, pyridinic rings, lipid chromophores, and aromatic amino acids. Even the mitochondria machines that produce energy inside cells contain several different light-responsive molecules called chromophores. This research suggests that light channeled by filamentous cellular structures called microtubules plays an important role in helping to coordinate activities in different regions of the brain.,,, https://www.icr.org/article/10186

Mac McTavish,
I don’t understand the mechanics involved or the implications of it.
The 'implications' of finding widespread quantum mechanics to be at play in molecular biology is, as I pointed out in post 7, fairly and pleasantly obvious. i.e. We are spiritual beings that live in physical bodies. To repeat,
The implication of finding ‘non-local’, beyond space and time, and ‘conserved’, quantum information in molecular biology on such a massive scale, in every important biomolecule in our bodies, is fairly, and pleasantly, obvious. That pleasant implication, of course, being the fact that we now have very strong empirical evidence suggesting that we do indeed have an eternal soul that is capable of living beyond the death of our material bodies. As Stuart Hameroff states in the following article, the quantum information,,, isn’t destroyed. It can’t be destroyed.,,, it’s possible that this quantum information can exist outside the body. Perhaps indefinitely as a soul.”,,,
Leading Scientists Say Consciousness Cannot Die It Goes Back To The Universe – Oct. 19, 2017 – Spiritual Excerpt: “Let’s say the heart stops beating. The blood stops flowing. The microtubules lose their quantum state. But the quantum information, which is in the microtubules, isn’t destroyed. It can’t be destroyed. It just distributes and dissipates to the universe at large. If a patient is resuscitated, revived, this quantum information can go back into the microtubules and the patient says, “I had a near death experience. I saw a white light. I saw a tunnel. I saw my dead relatives.,,” Now if they’re not revived and the patient dies, then it’s possible that this quantum information can exist outside the body. Perhaps indefinitely as a soul.” – Stuart Hameroff – Quantum Entangled Consciousness – Life After Death – video (5:00 minute mark) https://www.disclose.tv/leading-scientists-say-consciousness-cannot-die-it-goes-back-to-the-universe-315604

I love reading about this stuff but I have to admit that I don’t understand the mechanics involved or the implications of it. And, I dare say, nobody else here does either.Mac McTavish
