The “starseeds” among us: In case we thought reason was going to get a fair shake out of all this “science” stuff…

At ScienceAlert:

Star people, or starseeds, are individuals who believe they have come to Earth from other dimensions to help heal the planet and guide humanity into the “golden age” – a period of great happiness, prosperity, and achievement.

It might sound a little crazy but an internet search for the term brings up over 4 million results and there are scores of people posting videos on TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook who believe they originate from another world. Indeed, content with the term #starseed has over 1 billion views on TikTok.

Unlike “Earth souls”, who are said to reincarnate on Earth, starseeds believe they have reawakened from another planet to be born here. Starseeds believe they are conduits between divine realms and the Earth and that they can transport between galaxies via meditation…

They are also said to be empathetic, sensitive, and have more physical and mental health issues as their souls aren’t used to having a human body. – Ken Drinkwater et al. (March 14, 2023)

Please. Just please. We believe it about the mental health issues though.

Here’s an academic source.

We wouldn’t care except:

In the case of starseeds, several books published by big publishing houses may provide a sense of authenticity and so too does the fact that a number of them are bestsellers. – Ken Drinkwater et al. (March 14, 2023)

One wonders, do these starseeds see any evidence for design in the universe? Or are they (and we) the ultimate expression of human biology as sheer, meaningless chaos?

Is one of the characteristics of Starseeds wearing funky clothes, jewelry, and having impossibly golden luminescent hair?

Pffft! Double Pffft! I saw it in a supermarket tabloid. I think it was the National Perspirer.

Yeah. Let’s invent a concept, throw it against the wall and see if it sticks – among the public. Stupid.

People who write this should join the Writers Guild so they can contribute this sort of nonsense to the next SF TV show.

But yet you believe in angels and devils……

    CD,

Yes, but we have historical warrant in the form of written evidence for the existence of these things. The same documents that attest to the fact that there is a spiritual realm also attests to the resurrection of Jesus Christ, a historical fact that is backed by the testimonies of more than hundreds of persons, as well as the changed lives of His followers.

Yet, Chuckdarwin, you believe in the spontaneous generation of life from non-living matter. Your position is founded not on faith, but on a stubborn resistance to acknowledge the reality that a Designer exists.

If written evidence is sufficient then we also have warrant for belief in the Egyptian or Greek pantheons.

For all we know, these “starseeds” are just angels by another name.

I think Relatd has a point here, though, in that “starseeds” could be the basis for a re-boot of Highway to Heaven.

Bep! For a guy who rails against God, your lack of Bible knowledge is well… uh… up there. Starseeds? Seriously? This is an old, repackaged idea. It’s not new. No, I won’t provide examples because I don’t want to help market this stupid idea. They should do the TV show – the fiction TV show.
