Here are some animations of the machinery of living cells, which I have encountered from various sources and put in alphabetical order for convenience. You might want to bookmark the file, as I plan to add to it, when I hear about new animations of interest.

I posted a number of new items at The Mindful Hack today as well:

Humans as emotion machines: Marvin Minsky’s current attempt at reductionism

Speaking in tongues: Neuroscience can’t currently pinpoint alternative area of brain

Free will and neuroscience: Why free will must be a foundation (Also information on the European version of the atheist crusade.)

The risks of undeserved praise

The mystery of courage – how do people become heroes?

After watching the ribosome videos and then revisiting my old college biology text to understand what it does and how it functions raised some serious doubt for NDE. I can understand that transcription errors could happen in the process (alhtough it appears there are also periodic back ups in the system) creating random mutations but there is a more serious issue of chicken and the egg here as a ribosome is RNA and proteins which are made from DNA. My basic question would be putting Dobzhansky to the test and asking, "How does any of this make sense in light of evolution?"late_model

http://vixy.net/ has an online video converter. You paste in the Youtube address and click convert. You can choose avi, mov, etc. I do that with videos and put them onto my portable video player.DanielJ
