… who advocates a cosmological rethink of religion (which is good because she, unlike some, does not pretend that this is just another flavour of the same brand):

Sister Ilia Delio discusses an ‘evolutionary’ approach with the women religious [nuns] gathered in Orlando for the group’s 2013 annual assembly.

Say what?

Quoting [Teilhard] de Chardin, she said Christianity is a religion of evolution. “Gospel life is now life. God is the God of the now.”

“We are on the cusp of an evolutionary breakthrough — one that requires our conscious participation as co-creative agents of love, midwives of the new creation,” Sister Ilia stated.

“Nothing is more awesome than to give birth to God,” she said.

Doubtless, but in traditional Catholic Christianity, it is not for every woman to do that. 😉

Incidentally, the religious orders who listen to this stuff are mostly evolving toward extinction.

I’m told the newer, dynamic ones usually don’t have time for it. Too many real life needs to meet in the community. – O’Leary for News

OT: Found this video clip: Near Death Experience - The Tunnel - Barbara Springer - video https://vimeo.com/79072924 Of a quote I've cited often: The NDE and the Tunnel - Kevin Williams' research conclusions Excerpt: "I started to move toward the light. The way I moved, the physics, was completely different than it is here on Earth. It was something I had never felt before and never felt since. It was a whole different sensation of motion. I obviously wasn't walking or skipping or crawling. I was not floating. I was flowing. I was flowing toward the light. I was accelerating and I knew I was accelerating, but then again, I didn't really feel the acceleration. I just knew I was accelerating toward the light. Again, the physics was different - the physics of motion of time, space, travel. It was completely different in that tunnel, than it is here on Earth. I came out into the light and when I came out into the light, I realized that I was in heaven." - Barbara Springerbornagain77

Buffalo - the Dominicans of Nashville are also some real nuns. They received 26 new postulants this year. This is a brilliant set of lectures by Sr. Jane Dominic, O.P. http://www.newmanconnection.com/institute/courses/rich-gift-of-love Her keynote is "Masculinity & Femininity: Difference and Gift". She looks at neuro-physical differences and Thomistic (of course) teaching on the soul. She's quite devastating against Darwinian theory, which is essentially anti-human. You can't arrive at Masculinity and Feminity as a "Gift" via Darwinian pathways. BA77: Interesting. I would think Mother T. would have had little use for Darwin also since she saw something sacred in the poorest of the poor and we know how evolution would regard such people.Silver Asiatic

Mother Teresa was a nun whom I consider to have 'walked in miracles'. At the 19:00 minute mark of the following video you can catch a glimpse of the remarkable trust in God that that little woman of giant faith constantly walked in during her missionary work to the poorest of the poor: Mary Poplin - Life Lessons from Mother Teresa - video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LeNIOyF0sjU Poplin is a professor of education at Claremont Graduate University. In 1996, she spent two months with Mother Theresa as a volunteer with the Missionaries of Charity in Calcutta. Her experiences formed the basis for her 2008 book, Finding Calcutta: What Mother Theresa Taught Me About Meaningful Work and Service, which gives an inside glimpse of one of the most influential lives of the 20th century.bornagain77

Ilia Delio is what is known as one of God's fools. She seems to be good intentioned but is also very ill informed. There are videos of her on the net but they may be painful to watch. I came across here a couple years ago as someone who was billed as modern in her approach to Christianity. She is a fan of Chardin of Piltdown fame. And has apparently glommed on Darwinism as God's method for the biological world. So she is confused but probably good intentioned.jerry
