Ken “we suck” Miller wrong again — peer reviewed article obliterates Miller’s claims
Lamenting the fact Darwinist have a hard time persuading the public, Darwinist Ken Miller once said of himself and his colleagues”WE SUCK“. Curiously, Jerry Coyne said the same thing, “WE SUCK“. Egg surely is now on Ken Miller’s face in light of new scientific developments. But first, what did Miller claim: “Intelligent design cannot explain the presence of a nonfunctional pseudogene, unless it is willing to allow that the designer made serious errors, wasting millions of bases of DNA on a blueprint full of junk and scribbles. Evolution, however, can explain them easily. Pseudogenes are nothing more than chance experiments in gene duplication that have failed, and they persist in the genome as evolutionary remnants of the past history… Ken Read More ›
Ed Feser and Intelligent Design, Pt. 1 – ID is not an Apologetic!
I’m going to do a series of posts analyzing a talk given by renowned Thomist philosopher Ed Feser. The full video is available at the end of this post. In any case, the Thomists are well worth responding to, given that they are some of the most vocal Christian critics of Intelligent Design. Or are they? I contend that the biggest issue is that the Thomists misunderstand what Intelligent Design is, much the same way that atheists and creationists do. From the first part of the video, Feser criticizes ID because – lo and behold – ID is not worthwhile as an apologetic! I wonder if Feser realizes that perhaps the reason that ID is not a worthwhile apologetic is Read More ›
“Shepherd of the Internet Trolls” — “PZ Myers and the Art of Shameless Dishonesty”
Famous atheist Sam Harris in Wrestling the Troll describes “unscrupulous people like PZ Myers” who run an “odious blog” as the “shepherd of Internet trolls”. In saying this Harris also managed to say a few things about PZ’s followers. But one of the best descriptions of PZ Myers and the thought control exercised at PZ and Ed Brayton’s “Free” Thought Blogs comes from the atheist Thunderf00t. Thunderf00t outlines PZ’s strange alliance with the Anti-Creationist Pinup Girl Rebecca Watson and the “rational” behavior going on at “Free” Thought Blogs: PS PZ has no shortage of kind words to say of yours truly: Sal Cordova is a slimy little sewer goblin Without hesitation, I can tell you who the most contemptible, repulsive Read More ›

The Taphonomy of Sinosauropteryx
Sinosauropteryx holds a special place in evolutionary studies, partly because of exquisite preservation and partly because it displays integumental structures (described as proto-feathers by many). Alternative hypotheses about these structures were considered in a previous blog, showing that there is compelling evidence contrary to the protofeather hypothesis. However, it remains to be established what the integumental structures of Sinosauropteryx actually are and how they became fossilised. This is the theme of this blog. The relevant research is again that of Professor Lingham-Soliar from South Africa. He has presented new data allowing two alternative hypotheses to be tested. “A sound understanding of the externally preserved fossilized tissue of Sinosauropteryx is crucial to resolving the differences in interpretation. If the tissue represents Read More ›

ID as ‘Science of God’ (aka Theology)
A piece of mine has been just published in the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s (ABC’s) excellent Religion and Ethics website. It provides a larger context for my own theologically positive approach to ID, which I realize is not everyone’s cup of tea. However, like Gregory Sandstrom, I welcome johnnyb’s intervention, which raises the issue of which companies an ID supporter would invest in (or not). I personally find the choices a bit on the Rorschach side of plausibility — i.e. it tells us more about the beliefs of the proposer. So Eric Holloway is happy to regard ‘gamers’ as ‘human’ in a way that has not been contaminated by the AI ideology of Kurzweil et al., so he doesn’t see their Read More ›
