Roger Penrose thinks black holes are left over from a previous universe

Well, it’s an original idea:

There was an earlier universe before the Big Bang, and evidence for its existence can still be observed in black holes, a Nobel Prize-winning physicist has said.

Sir Roger Penrose made the claim after recently winning the award for breakthroughs in Einstein’s general theory of relativity and proof of the existence of black holes…

“I claim that there is observation of Hawking radiation. The Big Bang was not the beginning. There was something before the Big Bang and that something is what we will have in our future”, Sir Roger said, according to The Telegraph. It all sounds so much like religion, actually, but maybe that’s the direction in which High Science is heading.

In a recent debate Sir Roger shrugged when it was pointed out that his position was one of infinite causal regression. He agreed that this was what the astronomers at the Vatican had said too, when he spoke with them. He is not tending towards religion, as I see it, and candidly admits that there are things too mysterious for his understanding the prevalence of order, the effectiveness of maths etc. And in the article in question he concedes the craziness of his idea.Belfast

If black holes are left over from a previous Universe, what are black holes that begin in a supernova after the Big Bang? Did they too somehow exist before our Universe? I confess I did not read or view the Penrose piece, but the very concept sounds illogical. But then speculating famous physicists can say whatever they like and will get publicized.Fasteddious

Do you not see the hypocrisy? Seriously you are a PERFECT example of it. You criticize and condemn religion and turn around and embrace this nonsense which is a religion while claiming it’s not a religion and it’s better then religion SO THATS THE PROBLEM, GET IT! Maybe if you didn’t attack religion NO one would care, and it would be business like usual.
