MADISON, Wis. — A state representative wants to know how a Wisconsin couple has won tens of thousands of dollars in the state lottery.

Jeff and Lisa Hintz from Bonduel, which is near Green Bay, have won state lottery games five times in five weeks.

They say it’s luck, but state Rep. David Cullen wants a state audit to see if it’s something more than that. He plans to make a formal request this week.

“If somehow the auditors look at it and say, ‘Looks like they were just very lucky,’ I think I would want us to have other people look at it too,” Cullen said.

Cullen said that could include a criminal investigation. The Hintz’s have won about $70,000 playing lottery games since 2000. Recently, they won the Second Chance Lottery.
