Darwin’s Doubt: Fake Steve Meyer Facebook pages a new Internet publishing craze

Spread the love

Readers will likely recall that Steve Meyer is that author of Signature in the Cell and Darwin’s Doubt.

As it happens, an enterprising troll has decided to put up a number of fake Steve Meyer pages. I guess that is what some do when they run out of arguments before they run out of rent money.

Anyway, News got a note from someone at Meyer’s workplace, Discovery Institute, advising,

FYI – Steve Meyer has a personal profile page on Facebook that is real. The URL ends with the numbers 9887. I think this is the one Timothy Kershner was mentioning. Can you inform him that this is Steve’s REAL profile?

We are maintaining this real personal profile as evidence when other fake profiles pop up.

He also notes that there is also a real Facebook page available for those who wish to follow his work here.

He asked News to let him know about further fake profiles, and readers can kindly notify us in the combox.

Oh, by the way, approx 4:30 pm EST, Darwin’s Doubt:

Is it just us or does something feel right about Darwinism and fake Facebook pages?

This iD page starts off as pretty hostile to creationism.
Creationism is as sciency as ID. whats the instant dismiss about creationism.
Sound as bad as evolutionists. How is intelligent design not from a creative thought with a creative action thus equals creationism???

Robert Byers — “Creationism” and “ID Theory” are two distinctly different animals.

Not synonymous and you shouldn’t be treating them as such.

It does feel right. Nobody cares about a fake website. But put up a fake Facebook page and it attracts all the true believers.

Nobody cares about a wandering minstrel telling stories of fairy princesses. But put that same minstrel in a tenured position with Ph.D. after his name and the same stories are The Most Well-Supported Theory in the History of the Universe.

To that I’ll salute the power of the Book of the Face.

I realize that fake Facebook pages constitute an international crisis, but it’s kind of embarrassing that Dr. Meyer has to scout and report on them.

They are not two different beasts.
As I said iD is about a creator existing as evidence by the design in nature.
    Thats creationism.
    How not ???
Its creationists who are behind much support of iD
This webpage is , undiplomatically, hostile to creationism.
they could do a smarter job eh!
Why should i join if they have some strange boundary of thinking on natures evidence for a INTELLIGENT DESIGN er.

Ah yes. The atheists, many of whom claim they can be moral without God, are at it again proving that just is not the case! Actions speak louder than words.

Where are all the atheists who are reprimanding their fellow cult members for their dishonesty?

Why no outrage over this deception?

You seem to be missing the point, Robert Byers, that you are not obligated to join. 😉

I’m an atheist, and apart from some schoolboy theft have a very clear moral compass. If you went to a prison in any state and asked for believers to step forward, you would be overwhelmed. The prisons are full of believers, the atheists prefer to follow the rules of the enlightenment and leave believers to crime, self loathing, and shame.

The unmitigated horror visited upon man, by state sponsored atheism, would be hard to exaggerate,,, Here’s what happens when Atheists/evolutionists/non-Christians take control of Government:

Wow a numbers game. You do that so well here, usually concerning coin flips and orders of statistical improbabilities around the 10 to the Nth power against.

Perhaps instead of looking at numbers killed you should try to analyse the psychological havoc created by religions which leave young people in moats of guilt simply for doing the very natural thing of pleasuring themselves. I mean seriously hell and masturbation are linked? Of all the lasting damage religion has caused I would personally say guilt, over purported misdemeanors against tediously archaic psudo-laws is the most destructive. Millions of youth walking around afraid they will be damned for having a wank, stealing candy, using slang and expletives; thanks god, and Calvin!
