From “Intitutive thinking may influence belief in God” (ScienceDaily (Sep. 20, 2011), we learn,

In a series of studies, researchers at Harvard University found that people with a more intuitive thinking style tend to have stronger beliefs in God than those with a more reflective style. Intuitive thinking means going with one’s first instinct and reaching decisions quickly based on automatic cognitive processes. Reflective thinking involves the questioning of first instinct and consideration of other possibilities, thus allowing for counterintuitive decisions.

People who got the right answers on their test were less likely to believe in God, so there.

And atheists are more likely to be autists, according to a story about a study that rolled through here earlier. It would be interesting to know who thinks all this is science. But in an age when even Einstein is under question …

And that closes our religion page coverage for the week.

I actually agree with this. My reasoning is that intuitive people go with what they "sense" to be right even when they cannot "know for sure" that it is the case. That is, intuitive reasoning relies more on faith. It is sort of like hitting a base ball. The base ball comes at you at an enormous speed that you cant quite know for sure where it is and where ti will be next- but based on a quick survey they mind makes quick calculations and if you senses are right you might be able to get a hit. But to rely on the intuiition requires that we are willin to take that risk of striking out. Hence, as with God we cannot prove his existence with one test, but the intuitive person will trust in their senses. The real question is what "intuitions" are directly related to precieving the existence of God? THis is where the design argument jumps in. Personally, things like beauty and symmetry and improbabable coincidence play a large role in my natural intuition that there does indeed exist a God.Frost122585

That's funny, I remember a prof once telling the class when dealing with multiple choice options where you are unsure of the answer, to go with your initial instinct.junkdnaforlife
