Last year, we noted, in response to a boycott call, that science-based industry doesn’t seem to be shunning Texas simply because Darwin’s boys don’t run everything unchallenged there.
One commenter suggested that the newborn Texans were attracted mainly to liberal Austin. Which doesn’t quite work as an explanation because many of the firms are migrating from California.
Austin is doubtless as interesting a left coast outpost as it is locally touted to be, but it’s hardly UC Berkeley …
Meanwhile, a Texan reader writes to remind us of that little squib and to say that a successful California firm is now moving to Texas.
We wondered if we should suggest that our reader write to the firm’s CEO and ask him urgently to reconsider because the Darwin lobby says that “creationism is bad for job growth.”
On reflection, we desisted. The reader is a Texan after all, and it might be a conflict of interest. If Texas can’t have Darwin, it can at least have science-based industries, jobs, and prosperity as a sort of consolation prize.
