It’s hard to know what to make of scientists who think they owe it to the world to dismiss the scientific revolution but still want the rest of us to think of them as scientists:

Instructors at a prominent university in Australia have been warned not to lecture on the natural historical record of that country; instead, they should teach a creation narrative regarding the origin of indigenous Australian people.

Lecturers at the University of New South Wales “have been warned off making the familiar statement in class that ‘Aboriginal people have been in Australia for 40,000 years’,” The Australian reports…

The document states that relying on the scientifically researched historical record to determine a date of Aboriginal arrival “tends to lend support to migration theories and anthropological assumptions.”

Daniel Payne, “Instructors at Australian university told to teach creation myth instead of science” at The College Fix

What we are expected to accept without question:

The Dreamtime is a commonly used term for describing important features of Aboriginal spiritual beliefs and existence. It is not generally well understood by non-indigenous people.

Aboriginals believe that the Dreamtime was way back, at the very beginning. The land and the people were created by the Spirits. They made the rivers, streams, water holes the land, hills, rocks, plants and animals. It is believed that the Spirits gave them their hunting tools and each tribe its land, their totems and their Dreaming.

The Aboriginals believed that the entire world was made by their Ancestors way back in the very beginning of time, the Dreamtime. The Ancestors made everything. Aboriginal Dreamtime

Something similar is happening in Canada.

It’s a perfect storm—or if you believe in divine judgment
— a perfect judgment. To the extent that science boffins have vastly preferred sanctimonious catering to the raging Woke to critical thinking about what they represent, it’s hard to know how to even talk to them.

Make no mistake; the people who want their beliefs taught as science also want to take over the positions of the teachers. Let’s just say, a whole new world awaits. And it will not be Darwin’s world.

How odd an outcome of the Darwin wars.

Which side will atheists choose in the war on science? They need to re-evaluate their alliance with progressivism, which is doing science no favours.

All they have done is created their polar opposites, the counter-balancing cultural forces of the resurgent nationalist right that are even now reversing the tide of progressivism and will – as is the wont of humankind – push the political pendulum far over to the right, far faster and harder than the left have ever imagined possible.
I think you have put your finger on the dynamic that is now so poisonously affecting Western liberal democracies, pressure to return to fascism, to reverse many of the progressive liberal changes that came in during the 1960s - 2010 or so. Especially as exemplified in the US with Trump, and in the EU. Who knows how far this will go.doubter

Annoyingly the Australian is paywalled, and the guidelines are not publicly available either, so it's difficult to find out what they actually say.Bob O'H

"Instructors at Australian university told to teach creation myth instead of science" Well, the more precise title would be: "Instructors at Australian university told to teach creation myth instead of evolution myth", since the theory of evolution is neither valid nor scientific, and it functions only in the imagination - https://evofact.wordpress.com/forexhr

This is a nice demonstration of the fact that the controversy has never been about religion versus science nor reason versus superstition, but in fact it is simply a conflict between competing creation narratives played out in the political arena, and this is all it ever can and will be as a function of human nature. In similar - and highly related - vein, the advocacy of free speech as a fundamental political principle has been revealed as merely another tactic to void the blasphemy laws of historic Christian nations, and then replace them with the blasphemy laws of neo-liberal (so-called) progressivism* now that the champions of degeneracy wrongly think themselves in an unassailable political ascendance. (*The fatal flaw of progressivism is in the very name the progressives chose for themselves; they consider political affairs to be a linear ever-upwardly-progressing set of phenomena a la Marx's parallel theory of political determinism, whereas the truth is markedly otherwise. Political currents move in cycles and politics is an expression of cultural dynamics that behave more akin to a pendulum. Having pushed the political mass far over to the left these neo-marxists thought that the only proper response to growing resistance was to push even harder, to become more stridently vicious in their denunciations, de-platformings, and de-financings of all dissenters. All they have done is created their polar opposites, the counter-balancing cultural forces of the resurgent nationalist right that are even now reversing the tide of progressivism and will - as is the wont of humankind - push the political pendulum far over to the right, far faster and harder than the left have ever imagined possible. I do not welcome this polarised whip-sawing of our political culture, far preferring the centre that accommodates the maximum breadth of thought possible within the confines of any specific set of near-universally shared values, but my personal preferences are of little import. Dyscivic cultural factions in the west have sown the winds of political strife and we are all going to live through the whirlwind that is now the unavoidable consequence.)ScuzzaMan
