Specifically, Bacon’s essay on atheism:
God never wrought miracle to convince atheism, because his ordinary works convince it.
This is an obsolete, but still relevant, sense of “convince.” It means “to overcome or vanquish.” “‘Convince me!’ said the atheist.” In the original sense, this would mean, “Come on — defeat me.”
Anyway, their video is here. WARNING: NSFW language.
What in the …?
That is the oddest juxtaposition I think I have ever seen. ICP singing a serious song about miracles. They must be getting old. REALLY old.
Are you trying to get young people interested in ID, Paul? Because posting sucky music videos by ICP will not help you out there. lol
Hey tragic,
Young people will do as they please, and like what they want. (They always do.) I just thought it was remarkable that the theological arguments of Francis Bacon (1561-1626) were mirrored in a music video, with cussing.
When I was a teenager, I KNEW that certain females at my high school were objective proofs of God’s existence. Nothing so beautiful could be accidental. Who needs philosophical theology for syllogisms when she walks by…some things are just self-evident. 😉
I guess what I’m asking is why the heck did you even notice these idiots?
What — I can’t visit YouTube?
That song reminded me of this one
Newsboys – In Wonder

tragic mishap:
I guess what I’m asking is why the heck did you even notice these idiots?
I wonder if words “tragic mishap” and “perhaps” have something common. Maybe some deepest meaning is hidden. And really it is – in old English “hap” meaned probably “chance” or “Zufall” in German. Evolution by chance, you know…darwinism…
Ha ha ha.. never knew that Paul Nelson has this sense of humor.. besides the video I really liked his post in #3 2nd para….
A sign of a believer is the ability to laugh at himself.
I posted this before but here again is Heaven by Live.
Many people seem to live their whole lives with no sense of awe and wonder at all that surrounds us. Swear words are frequently substitutes and space-fillers when no words can be found to describe one’s feelings. In this context that seems quite appropriate.
“There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle”
Albert Einstein
Though I don’t fully endorse the book this following quote came from, I do agree with this specific quote:
“Miracles are natural? when they do not occur, something has gone wrong.”
– A Course in Miracles
Those clowns look familiar:

The guys in that video have yet another reason to believe in miracles now – the miracle that their video is being discussed in a serious forum.
Maybe juggalos could one day become potential sympathizers of ID. It sure would be nice to discuss a little teleology with people and sneaking into academia without them saying to me, “Don’t bother, the end times are coming!” Yes, I’m referring to the “rock-ribbed” fundamentalists who tend to give us quite the image problem.
