[Update:] Beliefnet Re-Re-Titles My Piece on President Bush

At my prompting, Beliefnet has now reverted to the original title (go here). [Earlier I had written:] After President Bush’s recently stated public support for teaching intelligent design, an editor at Beliefnet asked me to respond to it. Moreover, she asked me to clarify where I stand on creationism. I responded with a brief essay that appears on my designinference.com website (go here). I titled that essay “Why President Bush Got It Right about Intelligent Design.” That essay has now appeared on Beliefnet, where it was re-titled — without my knowledge or permission — “Intelligent Design, Yes; Creationism, No” (go here). This new title is contentious and misleading. My target in this essay is Darwinian materialism. I discuss creationism in Read More ›

Television Appearances [Further Update]

Below is what I wrote earlier. The appearance on Fox has been cancelled because of technical difficulties getting their truck to hook up with the satellite. CNN still appears to be a go. Steve Meyer will be appearing with Bill O’Reilly tonight [Meyer’s interview was cancelled. I expected all discussion of ID on the O’Reilly Factor to be cancelled on account of the Toronto crash, but it appears — see comment #3 below — that the other side got their say]. In the last two hours I’ve heard from Fox News and CNN. I’m to appear on The Big Story w/ John Gibson this afternoon (August 2nd) and on CNN tomorrow midday (August 3rd). This interest is in response to Read More ›

The Logic of Fingerprinting

Check out the following article in the July 28th, 2005 issue of Nature, which clearly indicates how improbability arguments can be used to eliminate randomness and infer design: “‘Fingerprinting’ documents and packaging: Unique surface imperfections serve as an easily identifiable feature in the fight against fraud.” I run through the logic here in the first two chapters of The Design Inference.
