Radical Feminism, the Unwitting Ally of ID and Creationism

Radical feminists are attempting to seize leadership of the New Atheist movement (aka GNU atheist movement). With big fanfare, we hear: Atheism Plus: New New Atheists Let me introduce you to Atheism+, the nascent movement that might be the most exciting thing to hit the world of unbelief since Richard Dawkins ….. there have been suggestions that atheism and scepticism are philosophies disproportionately attractive to men. Indeed, the stereotype of the atheist as white, intellectually overconfident male – as Richard Dawkins – has long been a favourite among religious apologists. …. To remember that not all atheists look like Richard Dawkins. Dawkins is an “A” Atheist. We know what he looks like. So what does an “A+” Athiest look like? Read More ›

Richard Dawkins defends the idea of having a mistress and lying about it

Many felt disgust with former vice presidential candidate John Edwards for cheating on his terminally ill wife Elizabeth Edwards. In the process of his affair, Edwards fathered a child with his mistress, Rielle Hunter. Rielle is now one of the most hated women in America. But according to evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins, men having mistresses is not what is immoral, but the rather the notion of monogamy (rooted in our evolved desire for faithfulness) is what is immoral. From Banishing the Green Eyed Monster by Richard Dawkins I want to raise another question that interests me. Why are we so obsessed with monogamous fidelity in the first place? …. The underlying presumption — that a human being has some kind Read More ›

Ken “we suck” Miller wrong again — peer reviewed article obliterates Miller’s claims

Lamenting the fact Darwinist have a hard time persuading the public, Darwinist Ken Miller once said of himself and his colleagues”WE SUCK“. Curiously, Jerry Coyne said the same thing, “WE SUCK“. Egg surely is now on Ken Miller’s face in light of new scientific developments. But first, what did Miller claim: “Intelligent design cannot explain the presence of a nonfunctional pseudogene, unless it is willing to allow that the designer made serious errors, wasting millions of bases of DNA on a blueprint full of junk and scribbles. Evolution, however, can explain them easily. Pseudogenes are nothing more than chance experiments in gene duplication that have failed, and they persist in the genome as evolutionary remnants of the past history… Ken Read More ›

“Shepherd of the Internet Trolls” — “PZ Myers and the Art of Shameless Dishonesty”

Famous atheist Sam Harris in Wrestling the Troll describes “unscrupulous people like PZ Myers” who run an “odious blog” as the “shepherd of Internet trolls”. In saying this Harris also managed to say a few things about PZ’s followers. But one of the best descriptions of PZ Myers and the thought control exercised at PZ and Ed Brayton’s “Free” Thought Blogs comes from the atheist Thunderf00t. Thunderf00t outlines PZ’s strange alliance with the Anti-Creationist Pinup Girl Rebecca Watson and the “rational” behavior going on at “Free” Thought Blogs: PS PZ has no shortage of kind words to say of yours truly: Sal Cordova is a slimy little sewer goblin Without hesitation, I can tell you who the most contemptible, repulsive Read More ›

NCSE’s Project Steve named after a Creationist

The NCSE has boasted about the list of people named Steve who are evolutionists. The irony is that The NCSE’s Project Steve is named after Stephen J. Gould who has been labeled by his peers as an “Accidental Creationist”. I guess it’s too late for the NCSE to rescind their Steve list now that we know the Steve list was in honor of someone who is bad for evolution. From THE ACCIDENTAL CREATIONIST Why Stephen Jay Gould is bad for evolution by Robert Wright: Gould has advanced a distinctive view of evolution. He stresses its flukier aspects…In fact, if you really pay attention to what he is saying, and accept it, you might start to wonder how evolution could have Read More ›

Essay by ID author Mike Gene ranks highly for intellectual honesty at Google

If you google the phrase “intellectual honesty” you’ll see that an essay by ID author Mike Gene ranks very highly (#3 as of this writing). In contrast, if you google “intellectual dishonesty NCSE Gleik”, the NCSE’s Gleik is at the top of the list, having resigned after he was caught lying. Mike’s essay can be found at: http://designmatrix.wordpress.com/2010/11/14/ten-signs-of-intellectual-honesty-2/

“Matzke is a Liar”

Nick Matzke is the famous former employee of the National Center for Selling Evolution (NCSE). For many years, he has been on the frontlines on the war on ID. His finest hour was at the Dover Trial where he provided a lot of technical support to the ACLU lawyers. Matzke’s attacks on ID are fundamentally based on misrepresentation, strawman arguments, equivocation, distortions, etc. Well, it seems his way of doing business has finally caught up with him. There is poetic justice in his public humiliation at the hands of fellow Darwinists. 🙂 [Matzke is] a nasty piece of work … Matzke has apparently made stuff up Jerry Coyne Another Tom Johnson Coyne refers to the words of Matzke and friends Read More ›

“We [Darwinists] Suck”, says Coyne after realizing 63% of nation’s biology teachers are “creationists”

Jerry Coyne is exasperated with the findings of a scholarly publication that surveyed the beliefs of biology teachers. Coyne interprets the results of this survey as follows:

47% believe in Intelligent Design
28% in [godless] evolution
16% in creationism
9% no opinion

(See: We Suck and Selective Creationists)

He labels the 47% who believe in Intelligent Design (which is he equates with Theistic Evolution) as “Selective Creationists”. So combined with the 16% of traditional creationists, that’s 63% of the biology teachers who are in his view “creationists”.

But what would happen if the 47% of Theistic Evolutionist/Intelligent Design biology teachers realized that Darwin is being refuted by secular scientific literature with every passing day? Will they, as Coyne fears, join ranks with ID proponents? Coyne observes:

Third Member of National Academy of Sciences to Criticize Darwinism also Trashes Dawkins

Greetings this Friday the 13! It is an unlucky day for Darwinism when Dawkins and Darwinism are criticized by the most elite members of the scientific community.

The most elite scientists in the United States are recognized by their membership in the National Academy of Sciences. To date, I’m now aware of 3 members who have expressed some form of serious criticism of Darwinism. The first brave NAS member was Phil Skell (see: Phil Skell Writing for Forbes ). Another NAS member critical of Darwinism is Masotoshi Nei (see: Peer-Reviewed Article Critical of Darwinism by NAS Member, Evolution by Absence of Selection.).

And now with his recent induction into the National Academy, Michael Lynch is the third member I’m aware of to be openly critical of Darwinism. This time Lynch uses the Proceeding of National Academy to lambast the behavior of Darwinists. He delivers the ultimate insult of his colleagues, he likens them to creationists!

His lambasting can be found here in the proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences: The frailty of adaptive hypotheses for the origins of organismal complexity

The article was a gold mine of quotable morsels:

the myth that all of evolution can be explained by adaptation continues to be perpetuated by our continued homage to Darwin’s treatise (6)

NY Times slaps ID foes PZ Myers and other ScienceBlog authors

The stench of non-science coming out of ScienceBlogs.com has gotten so bad that it has drawn the attention of the New York Times! See: Unnatural Science. It would appear that the opponents of ID must resort to means other than science to challenge the hypothesis of Intelligent Design. Rather than appeals to evidence, the foes of ID resort, in the words of NY Times, to “class warfare”.

Over at Pharyngula — which often ranks in the Top 100 blogs on the Internet— PZ Myers revels in sub-“South Park” blasphemy, presenting (in one recent stunt) his sketch of the Prophet Muhammad as a cow-pig hybrid excited about “raping a 9-year-old girl.”

Though Myers and other science bloggers boast that they can be jerky in the service of anti-charlatanism, that’s not what’s bothersome about them. What’s bothersome is that the site is misleading. It’s not science by scientists, not even remotely; it’s science blogging by science bloggers. And science blogging, apparently, is a form of redundant and effortfully incendiary rhetoric that draws bad-faith moral authority from the word “science” and from occasional invocations of “peer-reviewed” thises and thats.

PZ Myers Goes On Strike

The major headlines from today’s news at Foxnews.com:
Bailout Watchdog Calls Mortgage Programs a Bust, Obama Signs Wall Street Overhaul, Senate Poised to OK Jobless Benefits Bill, and Professor P.Z. Myers Goes On Strike With His Blog. Okay, that last one wasn’t one of the major, or even minor news stories at the Foxnews website (nor anywhere else, for that matter.) Never the less, P.Z. Myers, Assoc. Professor of Biology at the University of Minnesota, Morris, and frequent anti-ID, pro- Darwinism blogger has announced he is going ON STRIKE. He made this announcement, ironically, on the very website, ScienceBlogs, he is striking against, where he has his own blog, Pharyngula. Read More ›
